This is perfect for you if you’re new to starting an online business or on a shoestring budget and have no technical expertise whatsoever. Blogging is not just something you do for fun but when done properly it can help make an existing business more money. And if you don’t yet have a business. Blogging is the perfect segue into one because ultimately that’s what we’re aiming for.
To help you create a profitable blog and give you the freedom and flexibility of earning while doing something you love. Because if you’re looking at making serious money this year you need to know where the industry is heading and how this affects you. Next I’ll go through the big benefits of blogging for business and I feel this is really important understand because if you truly see the power of blogging and how it can transform your ideas into business it’s going to help motivate you to want to take action. Finally I will walk you through the actual build step by step. This part is where the rubber meets the road and I promise you’ll be up and running in less than an afternoon which is just awesome. And because I like to deliver massive value through this tutorial I’ll be sharing important tips that pros use to maximize your chances of success. You’re going to love it. So let’s start with a walkthrough of the blog. We’re going to be making now. So check this out.
It’s clean crisp and really modern in both its layout and design. Plus it’s fully mobile responsive so you can view it on any device and this gorgeous blog is perfect for 2017 because it’s based on what’s working right now and you really can’t get more up to date than this. Like I mentioned we’re going to be using something called WordPress to make your blog which is simply a web publishing platform originally created for the purpose of blogging. And explain more about WordPress later. But what I love about this is that each year they update their available themes and this year the theme that we’re using is actually called 20:17 which is what you can see right here. So this is the home page. Check out this full screen header background image how slick does that look. This seriously has a wow factor. And not only is it very modern and understated it’s fully customizable so you can really engage your audience and create a blog in line with your goals and vision you can switch this out with several different images and have it rotate. Or what’s really cool is you can set it to a video background as well. It’s pretty awesome with what you can do to customize it just your liking. And I’ll show you how you can do both. Now watch this. See how the various elements of the blog slide down revealing images as you go. It looks seriously cool. And honestly no one’s going to believe you made it yourself.
I’ll show you how to structure blog in such a way that your content is front and center and therefore the focal point of your blog because you want your audience to find and consume your content without being sidetracked by anything else. Now one of the best ways of getting your audience and prospects to repeatedly come back to your blog individually by something is by getting your audience to sign up to your list and we’ll get into the details in this tutorial. But that’s why we need this part right here which is a call to take an action a call to action is also known as a CTA and is exactly what it means. It’s literally a call to take an action. So you’re asking your audience for an email address in exchange for valuable content. Meaning you can grow your base potential customers by demonstrating value through solving a problem. So for example for our call action at Web sites made easy we’re using something called welcome mat which you see right here. So our call to action is create a profitable blog with our signature three step WTC system. Get started now. And by clicking get started now they are sent to an e-mail contact form. Now as you can see how we’ve done it here the entire page blanks out. So all we see is the call to action. And this is awesome because the potential reader can only subscribe or scroll down and isn’t distracted by anything else on the page. And this is game changing because once we have a subscriber we can continue to build a relationship with them through email. And this is really where it’s at. This is so important to get right and I’ll show you how to set this all up.
Plus you can add a call to action on any page on your blog so your audience and prospects don’t have to click around your blog trying to find it. And in this video I’ll show you how. So like every good blog you need posts and I’ll show you how to add and blog posts with images and video to really make your posts stand out and pop. There’s also the sidebar here which is fully customizable and you can add in things like your most popular blog posts in categories and I’ll walk you through how to do all of that. In the footer. You’ll learn how to add in your social media channels to build social proof and I’ll show you how to add in this awesome shared tool which helps to make your content go viral. So you get a ton of free traffic from people sharing your stuff. Then I’ll show you how to add some pages starting with your welcome page briefly explaining the vision for your blog and what your audience can expect in the About Us page where you talk about how you can help benefit your audience. So in my case I help business owners and entrepreneurs build a profitable business online using my signature three step WTC system and even learn how to link posts other post your blog for example or contact us page. Don’t worry I’ll show you how to add that too. Lastly I’ll teach you how to embed audio video and images on your blog. Change the headings in the title even add your own logo if you want and change the colors for a truly customized blog that is geared towards making you money.
So that’s the blog that we’re going to be building. I really hope you’re just as excited as me to get started. All you need is a couple of hours to go through this video. Determination to succeed and desire to want to build a business using your blog which is going to serve you in the coming year and beyond. And I promise this is going to be a lot of fun and I should know because over the last few years I’ve helped thousands of people just like you. Build a profitable online business using their blog as the foundation for their success. And I can do the same for you. So I hope you’re ready to get started with your learning adventure. It just takes three simple steps in all you need to do is literally follow along with me now will be referencing my own blog throughout the video which has all the steps of the learning adventure and you can access that here at websites made easy dot tv forward slash blog forward slash your blogging adventure. Now before we jump into any the build I need to share with you some key marketing research and trends in blogging. Now I know I’ve covered a lot and we’re almost there and you do not want to skip this bit. You want to pay really close attention here. You’ll be doing yourself a huge disservice. So stick with me we’re almost there. This is some really good information that’s going to put your mind at ease with some issues that might be coming up for you and clear up any doubts or skepticism you might have about blogging. OK.
Plus it really help you understand the future of where this is headed. Here’s the thing if you’re looking to move away from the 9 to 5 and do something you love while building a business which grows with you then blogging is a great place to start. It’s a fantastic way to build a brand and gain authority just recently covert kit which is email marketing platform for bloggers interviewed over 850 bloggers worldwide on all aspects of their business and compiled it into one report covert kit are industry leaders. So if anyone knows the future of blogging what works is them. They found that yearly earnings from blogs range from 16000 for beginners to over 6 figures for pro bloggers with the average blogger earning around fifty four thousand one hundred eighty year. That’s pretty awesome because the report also found that the average blogger is spending just five hours or less a week blogging which is crazy. Just five hours a week it totally blows the myth of blogging has been time consuming and only profitable for the pros right out of the water. And because the time investment needed to dedicate to blogging is less than an hour a day. It’s the perfect side gig if you’re working full time. How awesome is that. Here’s something else the report found which I found really interesting 52 percent of the bloggers interviewed had kids Yes you heard that right. Had kids this means blogging is perfect. If you’ve got family commitments this is a total game changer and moves you one step closer to the laptop lifestyle you see a lot of Internet giants talking about it.
Get this the bloggers range in the age from under 18 to over 65 which is just mind blowing because it proves what I’ve been personally saying for many years now and that’s this. Almost anyone with a passion to teach or share what they know can get started with a blog and make money from it. Here’s something else the report found which is a complete no brainer. Blogging is powering small businesses in a very big way. If you’ve already got an established business then hands down the fastest way to grow it is through content marketing in the vehicle of choice for all top marketers out there is having a blog. And all this is just the tip of the iceberg because blogging is a trend that’s set to grow over the years with no signs of slowing down. We’re in the age of information where knowledge really is power. But with blogging you have the added dimension of personalizing the knowledge teared audience and making it relevant to them. So you’re building relationships in a community. It’s totally awesome. The reality is all the data is pointing to one undeniable fact. If you’ve got something you’re truly passionate about and good at you can absolutely make money blogging. And if you’ve got an existing business blogging is going to help you grow it massively. It doesn’t matter if you’re in a car skincare food travel lifestyle languages or even knitting. You can most certainly build yourself a profitable business using your blog. Most bloggers who are interviewed started out because they wanted to be their own boss and have an outlet for creative expression.
If you’re the kind of person who’s doing the 9:00 to 5:00 and want to get away from that then blogging is ideal because it doesn’t require a lot of time or money to get started. What it does require from you however is consistency consistency you’ve got to have consistency and dedication to succeed.
Most bloggers publish content at least once a week and that’s perfect. If you’re strapped for time and that’s a great place to start once a week but you want to do it consistently. So hopefully you can see immediately that blogging is perfect for just about anyone. OK so now that you know the trends of blogging I want to move on to the big benefits of blogging especially when it comes to building a profitable business. Now we’re almost there. Stick with me. This is really going to dial in the right mindset for you to get started with your blog. So people usually blog for one of two reasons either to share their passion and then monetize their blog or to support an existing business by adding more value for their intended audience. For business blogging can help build your audience and encourage them to become lifelong customers with you. In fact one of the best ways to establish your credibility and authority educate your community and build a personal connection with your audience all at the same time. The thing to remember is that people online are usually searching for solutions to their problems and blogging about the topics most relevant to your audience is what’s going to help them have confidence in you your products and services. Blogging is essentially about building the know like and trust factor. In short you’re more likely to buy from someone you trust. If you have an established business then not having a blog and just relying on your web site can actually make it very hard for you to build your brand in your presence online.
You see unlike a Web site which consists mostly of static pages that more or less stay the same. A blog has content which is updated on a regular basis meaning content is always fresh and relevant. Therefore giving visitors a reason to return to your blog repeatedly. Plus blogs allow your audience to comment on your post creating engagement engaging with your audience is an awesome way for you to build relationships with them so you understand what they want and need the most to help provide solutions to their problems. Another huge bonuses that Google loves blogs due to the fact that the Google search algorithm is based on delivering the most valuable and relevant content to the needs of its users. And this means that Google will always boost content from sites which are fresh relevant and most of all engaging. So while web site serves mostly as an online brochure that talks about you your products and services a blog is focused purely on helping your audience and that’s a win win for everyone searching for anything relevant to their problems. For example if you sell skin products your blog would have tips and looking after your skin and could answer specific skin concerns. Some of your posts would also recommend the products you sell. Over time people who are looking to resolve their skin issues will be far more likely to purchase from you because you’ve already built a good relationship with your audience. Now check this out. If you reverse that. So let’s say you don’t have a business but are passionate about skin care.
You might start a blog that reviews products and talks about solving common skin problems and eventually you can move into either selling other people’s products or even creating your own line which many bloggers have done so done properly your blog can position you as an authority in your industry where your audience come to you for solutions and will trust you enough to buy your products and services. The single biggest advantage of a blog over a web site is that allows you to connect directly one on one with your audience by encouraging conversation engagement and building trust. Put it this way blogging is so important that even big brands have realized the power of bloggers as influencers on the market. There used to be a time when endorsements and reviews were only seen as important if they came from the all know celebrity. But that’s all changed now. Bloggers are just as important because companies have caught on to the fact that they have major influence in the buying decisions of their audience. Now I want you to imagine this for a minute. Really imagine this if you had a top authority blog with thousands of subscribers who loyally followed you and you decided to launch a product. Do you think you would succeed at making money. You betcha. Hopefully you can see now why blogging is essential for the success of growing a business online. So at this point you might be wondering James this is great. I would love to start a blog but where do I start. And more importantly how do I start without making a ton of mistakes.
Well that’s a great question because now we’re ready to build this bad boy out. Now don’t be scared because it will walk you through it step by step and you’re not going to do any technical skills to get started and you’ll be able to get started for literally next to nothing. Don’t stress over the technicalities of getting this up and running. It’s so unbelievably simple. You can have this ready to go in less than an afternoon. I’m not kidding. I’ll show you how to build it using my exclusive three step WTC system so to not only attract and of course wow your audience but I’ll show you how to turn your audience into raving fans and paying customers and ultimately help you build a base for your business that you can be truly proud of. So like I showed you at the beginning of this video this is the blog that we’re going to be building right now not only is this beautiful and functional but it’s just a pleasure to use. Meaning your audience is going to get an amazing first impression of your brand and if you’re serious about making a living from blogging then this is the perfect place to start. And let me tell you in the online world we have less than five seconds to grab someone’s attention before they click away. But this blog is really going to captivate your visitors and give them an amazing experience which will kickstart your journey to building a profitable business online. And I cannot wait to help you get this set up.
And with me as your personal guide I will take you from a complete newbie to a WordPress hero in no time at all. All you need to do is follow along with me the whole process is so easy by simply using copy and paste and by dragging and dropping the different elements of your blog together you’ll be up and running in just a few hours. And I based the design of this blog in the kinds of blogs pro bloggers use. Like I said at the beginning of this video. So it ticks all the right boxes in terms of design functionality and ease of use. The great thing about blogging is that it’s pretty cheap to get started. You’ll be able to build your first blog for next to nothing. Saving a ton of money in development costs and allowing you to focus on serving your audience without any stress or hassle. Now like I mentioned earlier we’re using WordPress to build your blog. It’s the number one blogging platform in the world and according to covert kit 76 percent of bloggers use it because it’s so darn simple and intuitive. So you’re really in good hands with this platform and because WordPress was originally designed for the purpose of blogging it’s a perfect tool even if you’re completely allergic to technology. If you can send an email you can use WordPress, plus you can fully control how your blog looks and feels so updating it is really simple in fact you’ll never have to hire someone to set up your blog for you, so let’s dive straight in! To properly set up your blog we’re going to be using my signature three step WTC system which stands for web site or in this case blog traffic and customers.
So essentially I show you how to build your blog get traffic to it and then show you how to convert traffic into paying customers. So step one is blog and to get your blog on line there are just three stages in step one as follows. Stage one is picking out and registering your blog address which is also known as your domain name. Stage 2 is using WordPress to publish your first ever blog. In Stage 3 is getting your blog on line so it can immediately be viewed by visitors on the Internet. So let’s start with your domain name which is the name of your blog address. For example mine is Web sites made easy dot tv. Once you have your domain name you’re gonna need something called a hosting service. So your blog basically has somewhere to live on the internet. Hosting is crucial to getting started on line. It is no different to moving into a new home and letting people know your home is so that when they search for you they know exactly where to find you. It’s super easy to set up and to do that. We’re going to head over to host gator dot com. So in your browser just type in host gator dot com. So it’s h o s t g a t o r dot com. Now I use host gator not only for myself but also for all my web sites made easy members because they’re super reliable have awesome customer service. They know WordPress and are available 24/7 phone and chat support to deal with any issues or to answer any questions.
Plus I’ve been using these guys going like 8 years now without any real problems and to help you get started with hostgator I’ve got a special coupon code for you. This will knock off 50 percent offer hosting to get you up and going saving some. Just be sure to enter the coupon code WordPress hero at the check out to get half off your hosting. OK you should be on the home page of host gator dot com and what you want to do is click on get started now in the middle of the page. Then select the hatchling plan If you only want one blog. But if you’re planning on having multiple sites then I recommend you go with the baby plan. Is this will give you unlimited domains to work with and you want to register a new domain name. Now hopefully you’ve really thought about this and picked a good domain name. If the name you want is not available I would keep drilling down and using different url extensions such as dot com dot net dot org or even playing around with the actual name my domain name is websites made easy dot TV and I chose this because I thought it was appropriate considering most of the content on my site is video. For this tutorial we’re going to create a new blog for demonstrations so that being the case we’re going to name this new blog w m e blog dot com Web sites made easy blog dot com. Ultimately whatever you’re comfortable with then from the dropdown select monthly if you don’t want to pay for your hosting upfront I’m going to select the yearly option.
Typically when you invest in something upfront you’re more likely to commit to it and follow through. And this is a great way to commit and invest in your goal of having your own blog live online. So once you’ve got that sorted you can go ahead and review your order. And if you’re happy with it simply enter in your payment details.
Now one thing you’ll notice when you review your order is that it will have added on a lot of additional extras which you don’t need so you can just uncheck the boxes under hosting add ons as these are all going to cost extra. Now in the coupon code box enter WordPress hero to save 50 percent off your entire order.
When you sign up for Hostgator through my coupon code I will earn a commission for referring you, at no additional cost to you. This helps us continue to create this awesome content for you 🙂
Be sure to validate it and will bring the cost of your hosting right down. You want to go through the rest of the process just follow the instructions and I’ll see you back in a moment. OK I’m back. I’ve confirmed my order and am now on the thank you page. Congrats you’ve successfully completed stage 1 in our three stage process of setting up your blog and hopefully the first stage was a piece of cake for you. So onto the next stage now which is installing your actual blog under your domain name. Again the whole process is very simple and you just need to follow along with me and you’ll have it installed in no time. You should have received two emails a welcome email and your account email information straight in your inbox. If it doesn’t arrive check your spam box. If it’s still not there give it some time It should arrive within about 10 to 20 minutes or sooner. You’re going to need these emails to help set up your new blog. Go ahead and find your account info email and open it up. Now be sure to flag or Star these emails because you’re going to need them later. So I want you to pay attention to the information inside.
In particular have a look at your username which is what you will have selected during purchase. You’ll also need to make note of your password, I suggest you copy your password then click on the c panel link here. It’s easier if you right click and open this up in a new tab. OK so now I want you to enter in your log in details from the email you received. Once you’ve logged into your C panel you’ll see a page full of different icons. It can seem a little scary and overwhelming. Don’t be scared it’s actually really straightforward and to be honest you’re really not going to need to know what all these are until you get a little bit more advanced so don’t worry. Right now all you need to do is scroll down towards the bottom where you’ll see a section called software you’re looking for the quick install icon. Go ahead and click that once you click this. Look for a word press under the section site builders and CMS at the top of the page then click WordPress. And then on the next page from the dropdown you want to select your domain for the WordPress installation. Go ahead and find your new domain. Once you have selected it click next. Now you’ll come up with a form asking you for some simple information. You’ll need to add in a blog title. Fill out the name of the person who will be maintaining the blog for you it can be your name or whoever is looking after your blog for you.
Also adding your name in a really good email address where you can receive incoming emails. Then check off the database in terms of service and then click on Install Now. Wait a few moments as your new WordPress site installs as soon as this is done. It will give you the details for your new blog here. All you do is copy the password as this will be your password for your new blog. The username will be whatever you selected during set up. OK so now I want you to click on this link here which will take you to the log in page or the dashboard for your new WordPress blog when you click on the link you’re most likely going to hit an error and it will tell you your blog isn’t available. Don’t panic because this is absolutely normal. All it means is your new blog can take up to a few hours to fully replicate to the servers or become live online. So I’ll be back as soon as that is done. Okay I’m back. And just to remind you that you should have received an email with your log in details for your new blog. Go ahead and click on the link to the dashboard or log in page which will end with a forward slash W.P. dash admin. Now sometimes when you click that link it will take you right to your log in of your WordPress blog. Or it might take you to a page that says you need to configure your name servers. If this is the case for you you’ll need to access one of your emails that you received from host gator.
Remember you received two of them and what you’re going to do is log in to your customer portal. Once logged in. Right up top you should see a section called domain’s click domains and then select your domain then head down and select name servers then select automatically point my domain to my hosting account where you can manually enter them in which you can find your name servers in your welcome email and that’s it. Go ahead and save the name servers and you are set to jet. Again this could take a while to propagate so your new blog can become live online. So be patient with that. That’s what this whole process is right here. So go ahead and log out access the email with your log in details for your new blog. You want to right click on the link and open it up in a new tab. Then all you need to do is add in your log in details for new blog and boom your in!
So that brings us to the end of stage 2 which is installing your WordPress blog and again hopefully the process was really straightforward and pretty easy.
Ok awesome on a stage 3 which is getting your blog live and ready to go. Now you should be inside the dashboard or the admin area of your WordPress blog. I love this it’s where all the goodies are you get some fun and customize your blog to your liking. This is where you’ll be able to add in your content. Set up your pages control layouts add themes and just about everything else you’ll need to build out your blog to make it awesome custom tailored for you and to ultimately serve your audience.
Now the first thing you want to do is go ahead and click I don’t need help right here.
And you can go ahead and X out this little notification right here and before we get started you can always access your blog by right clicking this home icon right up here. And I would suggest that you right click this up and open it up in a new tab.
And this way you have a point of reference in terms of any edits and changes we’re making as we press through this tutorial. So let’s go ahead and take a peek and see what the blog looks like right now out of the box. Not too exciting right now but don’t really get this blog dialed in making it look awesome. And you got to love it. So let’s head back to the dashboard.
So now I want you to head over to posts right here and then select all posts, and this is just default content. Go ahead and select this and then move to trash and then click Apply. OK perfect then head to pages, all pages and then for the sample page take off the little box right there and see where it says move to trash? Select that and then click Apply, perfect.
I’m excited to be able to share this stuff with you it’s going to be a fun learning adventure so stay plugged in. Now what we’re going to do is continue to move through these settings over here so you understand how this all comes together. So we’ll head to appearance and then I want you to head to themes now as you can see WordPress comes pre-installed with the 2016 theme. You want to search for the latest version of this theme which is called 20:17. This is the theme you will be using with your new blog and as I said it is the best WordPress has to offer in terms of blogging right now and soon this will be the default theme when you install WordPress. So for now what you want to do is head up to our head over here to add a new theme and actually it’s right here. But if you don’t see it right there for some reason you would just search for it over here and you can just type in 2017. Look how beautiful that theme is we’re about to activate it right now. So 2017 brings your blog to life with an amazing full screen header or video and immersive featured images that also features multiple sections on the front page as well as widgets navigation social menus logo etc. and it’s awesome. We’re going to go through all of this in this video.
So go ahead and head over here.
And then you want to click install and then activate click activate and now you’ve just changed your WordPress theme.
It’s going to change the entire look and functionality of your WordPress blog. So head back over here and check this out. Awesome right. Look how killer that is. It’s beautiful. And we’re going to switch this bad boy out with different images and just make it look.
I mean look how clean this is just awesome.
OK. Anyway head back over to the theme dashboard. OK just to clarify real quick what a WordPress theme is some people get confused by this. Think of a WordPress theme like the clothes you wear and Pages posts and other elements like your actual body parts. So really the theme serves as the feel and functionality and look of your WordPress blog.
So I want to approach this WordPress blog build out in a very natural way. So you fully understand how all the bits and pieces fit together so by the end of this you’ll understand all the concepts that we’ve covered and I’m going to do my best to explain each concept by explaining what each one is why you need it and how it’s set up properly. So I encourage you to go through this video once then go through it again and apply the concepts ultimately learning what you’ve applied in practice alright? Now there’s a little pot of gold here there’s a lot of little gems sprinkled throughout this video. So I don’t want you to miss any of these little guys right. So stick with me and be patient with me. And of course with yourself this is new. So some of these things might not connect with you at first but it will as you go through it, so be patient. I’m going to do my best to make sure this all lands for you. So stick with me by the end of this you have a killer blog that’s set up for new subscribers customers and ultimately to make you money.
OK so let’s finish editing the settings so head over here to settings and then click on general.
Now right up here is your site title. Now you can name this your name your business name something that’s related to whatever your blog is about. I’ll just leave this for now. WME, Web sites made easy blog and then for your tagline here you want to put in something kind of catchy or fun or something that’s specifically related to your blog or your services so I’ll put in, you get the idea.
And for this right here do not change these. Leave these as be. And then right here you want to put in a good e-mail address. So for any WordPress updates password changes you’ll get notified through that e-mail address so make sure you have a good e-mail address right there and then everything else, looks pretty good here. So what you want to do if you’ve made any changes you always want to be sure to save changes in the bottom. Otherwise this won’t change. So this will update any changes that you’ve made. OK so now how to appear to writing and click on writing, and everything in here is fine.
You don’t need to change anything in here. Then head to reading and where it says for each article in the feed show summary and then save changes and that way will only show the summary won’t show the full text of your blog posts.
Then had to discussion.
Now this is your WordPress blog comment settings now WordPress has done a really good job with the default settings here I feel like. But one thing I want you to take note of is it says email me whenever anyone post a comment or a comment is held for moderation. So whenever someone posts a new comment you’ll be notified through the email address you provided earlier. So make sure again that that’s a good email address and I think everything else is good for now in here. And as you move forward with your blog and based off your preferences you can adjust the settings so I encourage you to explore this a little bit further. But
for now everything is pretty dialed in in here. Actually
one last thing, right here where it says default avatar. Now this what, those you’ve seen those little images under the blog comments on blogs. Now if you change this to Gravatar and actually if you search for Gravatar logo on google you’ll find how to set this up basically it’s like a little Facebook profile except for WordPress or for you know blogs. And actually if you see mine up here it’s real small. There it is right there. That is my Gravatar logo. So it basically pulls from Gravatar and it populates in your WordPress blog so anybody that has that set up you’ll see their images or their profile when they make comments on your blog. So that’s pretty cool. So I would set it to that and again go to Gravatar, search for Gravatar on Google and you can figure out how to set that up it’s really easy.
So go ahead and save changes.
If you’ve made any changes I don’t know if we did but yeah I did for the Gravatar and we are done here, then head to media. And these are the default settings for when you update or upload excuse me any images and we’ll go, we’ll get into this a little bit later. But this is fine for now. So then head to Permalinks.
And you want to go ahead and change this to post name and then go ahead and save changes.
Now this is extremely important that you make this change. This is going to enable you to be found online through your various posts and pages so each time you create a new post or a new page it’s going to be named whatever you name that post or page. So for example WME blog dot com forward slash contact us or forward slash consulting forward slash services forward slash products. You get the idea. So whatever you name a post or page your blog content will get indexed in the search engines. In terms of their names making it very easy for your content to be ultimately found online and this is crucial so you can get good traction in the search results, and it’s really good for search engine optimization. So make sure you make this change. OK Awesome now that you have it saved. Want to pay close attention here. You’re going to love this. This is what really sets WordPress apart from any other blog builder and makes it the ideal platform for blogging. You’re going to install some plugins and you’re probably like what’s a plug in? Plugins or just little snippets of code that extend and expand the functionality of your WordPress blog and they’re super easy to add. I’m going to show you how to add these little guys right now. So head up here to plug ins.
And then click add new.
Now I’m going to get you set up with my favorite must have plug ins to your blog found online and start driving quality traffic to your blog turning visitors into subscribers and ultimately paying customers. So get ready you’re going to love these little guys! Now this is the WordPress plugin dashboard that you’re seeing right here. Now this is awesome because you can literally find just about anything to enhance your blog’s functionality. Thousands of plug ins are available here. So all you do is literally just type in what you’re looking to enhance in boom there it is. It’s that easy. OK so all you would do is head up here to search plug ins and say you wanted to add some music to your blog you would just type in MP3.
And there you go. You have plenty of MP3 functionality right there. So say you wanted to add in YouTube to add some YouTube videos or YouTube functionality your blog.
Awesome right. It’s so powerful what you can do with wordpress plugins to enhance your blog’s functionality. And sometimes people want their blog in multiple languages so you could just type in languages. And there is here’s a pretty cool plug in right here user language switch. And this actually changes the language of your blog and its search engine friendly. Pretty amazing what you can do with plugins. So you get the idea and I encourage you when you have some time to go through this and explore this a little bit more based on your specific needs. Do that and for now we’re going to get set up with my favorite plug ins that are really going to get your blog dialed in. And like I said this is where WordPress really sets itself apart from other blog builders. It is a game changer. So now you’re about to add in seven of my favorite free plug ins to make your blog very powerful ultimately running smoother and faster and again set up in a way so people can find you online to share your content with your audience friends and family and of course set up for a very good user experience allowing you to turn your audience into subscribers and potential customers. So let’s get set up at the first plug in. Now the first one I want you to add is called W.P. super cache. So just type that in WP super and it should pull right up.
Here it is right here. So all you want to do is click on install now.
And then activate, now right here it says W.P. super cache’s disabled please go to the plug in Admin page. Go ahead and click this, and then go ahead and select caching on and then update status, and then go here and select test cache.
Ok so without getting too technical what this basically does is speed up your entire blog. This is really important to have because the search engines like Google look at load time of websites and blogs as criteria for a viable source of info because people are on the go and they’re not wanting to wait around for a slow website or blog and you understand that. So this is going to speed up your entire blog ultimately running faster and smoother.
And for now until we’re done building this blog out you want to leave caching off. So go ahead and select this and then update status.
Okay perfect. This way you can see your changes real time and your not seeing a cached version of your blog.
So for now go ahead and dismiss this notification, and then head back to plug ins and then add new. And then over in the search field for search plug ins type in. Black studio tiny MCE widget.
Which is right here. Now what this plugin does is it allows you to edit pages and posts like a Word document so you can build italicize change the font colors. It really makes it easy to customize your content. So go ahead and install this.
And then activate. Okay perfect that one’s done.
So head to back to plug ins and then add new. And then head over to search plugins. And then search for a plug in called Yoast SEO so it’s Y O A S T S E O. And that should pull it right up. So go ahead and click on install now. Then activate and you should be getting the hang of this.
Now this plug in is for search engine optimization purposes or SEO. Now what this little bad boy does is pretty amazing. It helps people ultimately find your content online and search engine optimization is incredibly important for bloggers marketers or anyone that’s really trying to be discovered online. And when you optimize your web pages including your blog post you’re making your blog more visible to people who are looking for keywords associated with your blog your brand your products services via the search engine like Google. So when people look for specific things related to your content they will see a snippet of your content and choose whether they want to click on your blog or not. So it is imperative that this is set up properly so you can be found online for your specific products and services and your blog posts etc you get the idea.
So I’m not sure how to get the set up right now so head over here to SEO and then dashboard and then under notifications right here it says since you are new to Yoast SEO you can configure the plug in
by clicking here and this is really easy to do. OK so you don’t need to sign up for the newsletter unless you want to. So if you do just put a name email address I’m going to go and click next. OK so for environment that says please specify the environment in which this site is running. So I’ll just say this is a production it’s a live site. OK. And you can choose whatever suits you right here and click next.
And this is a blog. Go ahead and click next.
And this is a company websites made easy. If it’s a person just put in your name there and you can upload an image here probably like a company logo or something like that and then click next and then your social profiles and you would add just pop in all your social profiles right here.
I was going to click next for now and then for a post type visibility I would leave all this set as is.
OK. And then go ahead and click next.
And multiple authors will your site have multiple contributors. I have, I’m going to select no but you can select Yes if you will have multiple contributors on your blog.
Go ahead and click next.
OK for Google search console, basically what this does is allow the Yoast SEO plugin to communicate with Google Webmaster Tools. So ultimately this is going to allow Yoast to submit site maps to google for the search engine. So the search engines basically have a clear map or layout of your blog and this is really important. So making it very easy for the search engines to index your content so your audience can find you. And if you want to go through the process it’s real simple to connect your Google account, If you don’t have a Google account, you just sign up for one and just go through the process we’re about to go through right now.
So go ahead and click on get Google authorization code when you click that you’ll end up here.
Enter in your e-mail address your Google account. If you don’t have one you can just sign up with a account right here and just go through the process we’re about to go through now. So click on next to put in your password. I agree.
And then go ahead and click allow. And here’s the piece of code right here. You just copy that code. And then you’re going to pop it right back in here. And it’s that easy. And then click authenticate.
Then you’ll see it says Choose a profile. Don’t be concerned with that we just want to use plug in to be able to submit information about your blog sitemap to Google.
So go ahead and click next. And then you’re done.
And we’ve already set this up. Next, and that’s it and they close this out.
Now go ahead and head up to this notification right here, it says don’t miss your errors connect with Google search console here. Now check this out.
The changes should be reflected here, and there it is, save profile perfect, and head back to the dashboard, you’re all set.
Now if you don’t see that for some reason given a little bit of time it should be there. So and also don’t get hung up on this I’m just giving you some great tools and resources that you can use going forward once you get your blog up and going. First most importantly it’s to set the foundation of your blog some content get some momentum going then you can always add this other stuff. I just want to give you some good insight in terms of how to do this properly so you can really see the bigger picture and optimize your blog so you can really create great content and grow your audience.
And in saying that I want to give you a quick protip here which I think you’ll really dig when you’re ready and of course have some content on your blog,
I would recommend getting set up with Google Analytics. It’s real similar to the process that we just went through in terms of setting it up. We actually have a whole video series on our Web site covering this. So you want to check it out but it’s just a little it just a little outside of the scope of this video. And I don’t want to overwhelm you with all that. So what I love though about Google Analytics is it allows you to track exactly how many people have come to your blog where they come from and what their browsing behaviors are like. Which is very useful in trying to understand which kinds of content is most preferred by your audience. So it’s an easy way to understand how people behave when they come to your blog. Ultimately letting you make better business decisions. So for example you might find that you know your blog subscribers or customer spend twice as long on reading posts about tips so you can use that information to your advantage by writing more posts with tips in them to keep your audience more engaged. Ultimately it’s all about the metrics. Everything you do is tracked and reported on daily allowing you to test and try lots of new ideas with your blog and all of those ideas are confirmed with data not opinions assumptions or guesses. This is a business of arithmetic. Everything you need to know to scale your business is found in the data. So you’ve got to make sure your tracking is nailed and I encourage you when you’re ready to dive into Google Analytics.
OK let’s finish up with the Yoast SEO plug in. You should have this properly set up. Again the major benefit of this is for search engine optimization so you can be found online without this you’re really kind of in the dark. Search engines like Google have no way of identifying what your content is specifically about. So it’s going to help you index your content according to what you want your pages and posts to show up for so you can be found online. So you want to make sure this is set up properly. And like I said it’s extremely important to get this right to get good traction in the search engines and the more people that can find your content the more that you can grow your audience and the more that you can grow your potential customer base. So I really want this to land for you and to illustrate this. I’m going to create our first blog post.
Ok so now I want you to head up to posts and then click add new.
Now I really want you to pay close attention here because not only am I going to show you how to properly optimize your content so it gets found online for your various products or services. I’m also going to give you some killer tips to create quality blog posts. OK so this is extremely important to do this properly. Now what I like to do is create posts and pages that are really focused around one or two main keywords, and you’ll understand what that looks like here in a minute. So optimizing your blog post for keywords. It’s not about incorporating as many keywords into your post as possible. It turns out that that will actually hurt your SEO because search engines will think that your keyword stuffing which is really intentionally including your keywords as much as possible with the sole purpose of gaining ranking in organic search which is not good. You don’t want to do that. You’ll get tossed in the Google sandbox. Google does not like this. Basically what that is is a filter that Google will put on your content because it looks like you’re trying to spam. Nor does it make for a very good reader experience. Instead you should use keywords in your content in a way that doesn’t feel unnatural or forced. Like I said a good rule of thumb is to focus on one or two keywords per blog post. This will help keep you focused on a goal for your post and while you can use more than one key word in a single post,
keep the focus of the post narrow enough to allow you to spend time actually optimizing for just one or two keywords.
So what I am going to do is show you now what that looks like. So I’m going to title this blog post 7 blogging tips for beginners and check it out down here. This is the Yoast SEO editor. Now watch as I title this post.
See how that’s populating it down there. This is actually what it will look like in the Google search results. OK we’ll talk more about this in a sec. OK so check this out this is really cool. See the title 7 blogging tips for beginners. Now this can be focused on the keyword phrase blogging tips and on the Long Tail keyword phrase blogging tips for beginners. Now longtail keywords are three and four sometimes longer keyword phrases which are very very specific to whatever you are specifically optimizing your blog post for or selling. You see whenever a customer uses a highly specific search phrase, they tend to be looking for exactly what they are actually going to buy. It is also good to use specificity in your blog post titles. That’s why I used 7 blogging tips for beginners. It makes it very clear and it makes it believable, specificity sells and the more specific the more believable.
Now let me show you what this looks like in the Yoast SEO editor so you can see how this all comes together. So for the Focus keyword.
I’m going to type in, blogging tips.
OK. Now for where it says edit snippet. This is the meta description think of it kind of like a book’s description.
Grow your blog get more subscribers and customers with these seven blogging tips for beginners. Now you see how that’s kind of compelling and it’s interesting and if you saw this in the search results, this is what it would look like. And see how this is highlighted or bolded, Blogging tips. It’s the focus keyword. Now you’re starting to see how this all comes together. Now you want this method description to be compelling or fun or interesting. You want people to click that link and really click through to see your blog post. Now they have a clear idea of what this blog post is ultimately about and of course it’s your job at this point to deliver unbelievable value. You always want to serve your audience and leave them better as a result of absorbing your content. I cannot stress that enough. You want to leave people with the best serve your audience so they’ll keep coming back for more. Here’s a little brain tattoo for you. You need to press this on your mind. You take care of the relationship and the money will follow. Take care of the relationship and the money will take care of itself. Get that blog content dialed in. Your job is to provide value the best content that you can for your audience. Give the best then receive. That’s the way it works. So now we’re going to add our actual blog post and head over to my content folder to grab the post along with all the media for the post.
So it’s right here and I would suggest you create something like this before you start your blog because it makes things very easy and organized. And this way you have everything so when you start to build it out everything is right there and it doesn’t become overwhelming and trying to find everything and piece it all together. You get the idea. Plus as a bonus you can get some momentum. I’ll give you the content folder that you can access on our blog.
This way you can have all the media to get up and going. So you can grab the content folder over at Websites made easy dot tv forward slash blog forward slash your dash blogging dash adventure.
OK so I’m going to grab the post.
Now I’ll grab this one right here seven blogging tips for beginners. And here’s the word document and all I want to do is literally just copy this document and paste it in. It’s that simple. OK so now we’re going to clean up this blog post and before we do that I want to show you real quick how easy it is to edit and format your blog post. So right here is the toolbar and this is really similar to editing a word document. And you can toggle this right here and I’ll give you more options. So you have your bold italicize you can choose different text color. Say we wanted to bold this, we would just highlight this.
And then click the bold, that simple, different font settings. Pretty cool. You can add media here pictures.
And then over here to the right is the format. We’re going to leave this at standard throughout pretty much throughout this tutorial. So but you can play with it here. And then category’s, we’ll talk more about this in a bit. But categories create the infrastructure of your blog. So that’s really important to get set up properly. And of course your featured image will add featured images for your blog posts. So those are the images that you see typically at the top of a blog post to highlight that post. So I’m going to clean up this post and basically I’m just going to remove some spacing in between each one of these. So I’m to do that now.
So I’ve gone ahead and cleaned up this post and now what’s cool about this post is it’s actually called a listicle and a listicle is an article presented in terms of a numbered list. And this really helps increase engagement because people are curious and they usually want to check out the entire list. So that’s something to be aware of. And secondly to increase engagement you want to include infographics. You’ve seen those there’s long long pictures that make you scroll all the way down blog posts which are really cool and are actually going to add one to this post and you can add diagrams and videos will add a video to this post as well in your content to break it up to keep people engaged. And a super awesome trick is to ensure that your infographics or videos are part way down the page so people can see them but would need to scroll down to see the whole thing. Now this will do two things. Firstly it tells Google that the content is intriguing because people are having to scroll to see it. Secondly it makes people stay on your blog longer which tells Google that people are reading what you have to offer and all these things will add weight to your post and give you better search engine rankings. So that’s very important to be aware of. So the more people that are engaged and stay on your post it actually notifies Google and says hey this is actually some worthy content here which is a win win for the people viewing your content and for you you get more exposure online for your content.
So let’s go ahead and add our first image and go to the content folder. Seven blogging tips for beginners and the images are in here for this post.
So I’m going to add this image right here blogging is very social, because this applies this is the context for this image.
Now images are awesome for blog posts not only do they breakup the content as you’re about to see they can also make your blog post really come to life. So you really want to pick compelling images that pop you know we’ve all heard the expression A picture is worth a thousand words. So pick really awesome pictures that create that extra depth and feeling giving more context to your post. And really this is an awesome way to get free traffic because if people like your pictures they will share your blog posts. So let’s add this first image now. It’s going to go ahead and click Add media. And then you want to select files here in the middle of the page and they will go to the desktop.
Blog post. Or blog 2017 blog posts and then this one right here. And here’s the image and choose that.
OK awesome. So there’s the image. Now you can see some details about the image over here. Here’s the title of it. Here’s the URL for the image the title you can put a little caption and alt text. I’m going to title this right here. And this is also a good tip for optimizing your images for SEO sometimes people search Google for images and they search by keywords and then your images can show up in the image search for these specific keywords so it’s important for your titles to be optimized properly for the keywords.
As well as the alt text area. That’s just a little protip as well. So something to be aware of.
Perfect. Now I’m going to show you a couple of things this is going to make a small image so we’ll insert this into post. And it’s pretty small. We want to make this bigger so you can click the image and click the pencil. And you can align it right here to the left. And actually this WordPress theme will take care of all that. But just something to be aware of right here as well. You’ll see what I’m talking about. So click the pencil and here’s the size. We have no alignment. This will center it and you want to do full size. And this word press theme actually 2017 will render the image perfect, To the actual you’ll see what I’m talking about. So we’ll update it.
Awesome. Looking slick OK cool. So that’s the first image.
Now another strategy is to create really riveting Pinterest pictures that drive traffic from Pinterest to your blog. So something like this image that you see right here is kind of cool and you can overlay it with some text. And like a call action or something that direct people back to your blog or of course infographics and that’s actually what we’re going to add right now.
So we’ll head down a little bit down to the section about keywords right here. OK. So add the info graphic right here. So all you do is put your cursor right where you want the image so that looks good and then select Add media upload files select files.
And here is the key word flowchart infographic and choose this there’s our image. I’m going to title this one to switch it up a little bit.
Just Blogging Tips. and make sure when you title these that you give it something appropriate to the blog post of course and you can name them different things. OK and here’s the size. We’ll just go ahead and select full size here and alignment, we’ll leave it none and then insert into post.
Awesome pretty awesome right. OK cool it’s coming together. Let’s see what this one looks like.
All tighten this up a little bit right here.
Ok cool. So you’re going to love this. Now we’re going to add in a video and then the featured image and then we’ll publish this bad boy. So you get to see a live version of this post. Now this is a really dialed in post. This is probably like 2000 words it’s a long post, on average posts can be around 500 words so it doesn’t need to be this long. Like this was a listicle remember and we added an infographic and the cool thing about this is as well as you can always add to posts.
So say like three months six months from now you want to add more to this post, add more. And it just adds that more value keeps posts fresh. It tells Google that the post is still up to date. And of course it creates more engagement for your audience. So let’s head back over the content folder and I’m just going to grab the link from this video, it should be right in here, here it is right here.
Just copy this. And this is just a Vimeo link. Now you can do the same with YouTube links and Vimeo links and you just pop in the URL and boom it will show up right on your post. You got to check this out. It’s pretty awesome. So where is that video right here. Check this out.
It’s going to pop this bad boy in, oh it didn’t save, too bad. We’ll go back and do it.
And also if you want to undo any changes I’m not sure what I just did there but I can just do it right here. OK cool. So that’s a little undo on head back over there and grab the link. It’s going to copy this. Copy it and then paste it right in.
Awesome right pretty killer.
So now you have a video on your page and it’s perfectly sized for this post. Ok cool. Now let’s add the featured image. So down here in the bottom right and this is really the image that’s going to highlight your blog post. So you’ll see what I’m talking about so we’ll set featured image just click that, upload files and select files. Now I’ve already optimized all these images in the content folder I believe there are 2000 by twelve hundred or twelve hundred by 2000 one of the two but they’re all set up specific for this 2017 theme optimized excuse me. So I believe that’s it yeah. And we’ll choose this. We’re about to see the size 2000 by twelve hundred. That’s the recommended size for this theme for featured images. And actually the header image as well, so and I love this image it’s awesome. So we’ll go ahead and, that’s fine
seven blogging tips.
And then set featured image. Click that and it’s set. And we’re going to talk about categories here in a minute. So like I said categories create the infrastructure of your blog it’s really important to get those set up properly. So we’ll do that here in a minute. And let me show you real quick how to add a link.
So say I want to link to my Web site just highlight all that and you can copy it and then say I just want to link it, and then we just paste in the URL here right back to my website, and then click the arrow button apply. Now we have a clickable link. Real easy and I’ll do the same for this one right here. Highlight it. Click the link paste the link in, click apply. That’s it. Ok cool you ready?
And if something goes wrong we can always come back in and edit this post.
Go ahead and click publish. And then head over here to view post. Man that looks awesome. And this is a monster post tons of value.
Play the video. That’s actually the video of this entire
blog post right here. And I’ll show you how to clean all this up here in a bit. So make this real tight we’ll add a call to Action popular posts all those goodies. So categories etc. so head back to, Edit post.
Now there you have it that your first blog post now this was a monster post like I said and I just really wanted to give you an overview of how to do this properly you don’t need to incorporate all of these different things in one post. And we’ll be adding more blog posts going forward with different elements that you can incorporate into your blog as well. So stay tuned for that. A lot of goodies Still to come. So again thank you for being patient with me and of course yourself. This is a lot of information and after this video you have a killer foundation of value to build upon and grow a very profitable blog. So I can’t wait to show you the rest of the stuff that I want to teach you. OK. Awesome. We’re getting some good momentum here and now you should know how to properly create a blog post and optimize it using keywords and longtail keywords with the Yoast SEO plug in. Now remember earlier when I talked about the importance of adding really compelling fun images to your blog posts so people share them sending free traffic back to your blog. Now what we’re going to do is add a plug in that allows for you to share your images which is really awesome. So head over here to plug ins and then add new.
And then in the search field over here just type in a plug in called Sumo Me, S U M O M E, and it should pop right up. Here it is right here.
Now what’s really cool about this plug in or sumo me is that it offers an entire suite of website and blog tools which are incredible. For now we’ll just get started with Image share and we’ll be adding more of these little tools in a bit. So go ahead and click on install now.
And then activate.
So now you want to do is register an account a free account with sumo me so head right over here and it’s real simple to get set up. So just click here to set up SumoMe, and then take note of this little crown icon over here. This is where you’ll access the SumoMe dashboard for the various tools. So all you want to do is just put in a good e-mail address and a password, add your password and then sign up. And now once you’ve registered this will be your account and all the tools pretty neat right. So go ahead and you can close this out, and you’re looking for image share which is right here and all you do just turn it on. And now it’s active on your blog. Pretty awesome right. So go ahead and close this out. And like I said we’re going to come back to this in a bit. But you should be all Registered now with SumoMe and let’s take a peek. What this looks like. So if we go back to if you go back to posts and then all posts then go ahead and click on your first post. And
check this out. Go
up here and then click View Post.
Now watch what happens.
See that. How awesome is that. Now people can share your images on their favorite social channel which is killer for you because you get more free traffic as a result. So like I said the more fun compelling riveting images that you add the more free traffic you can send back to your blog by people sharing your stuff. So it’s really really cool with the tools that are available. I’m going to show you more of these right now. So the next tool you’re going to be adding is appropriately called Share and go ahead and clic,
watch how easy this is, the little crown icon and Share right here and just turn this one on.
So check this out. You want to head to the home page of your blog, I’m just going to open this up again. And you’ll see Share right here.
Now what’s so awesome about this little tool is that you can get up to 20 percent more free traffic using this little guy. So basically what share does is it makes it super easy for your visitors to share your blog content to their friends family and others. The more people that share your blog content the more viral traffic goes back to your site ultimately. So basically people can like tweet or even pick your content through the use of social sharing buttons. Put it this way if you don’t have a tool like this you might as well be invisible you’ll find it much harder to get any traction online without a social media presence. So this tool will help address that issue.
OK so onto the next plug and head back up to the Crown or the sumo store go ahead and click that and then you’re looking for welcome matt and you want to turn this on now.
This tool is a game changer. Basically what it does is it displays a full screen call to action that shows when visitors land on your blog. And we’re going to set this up right now. So go ahead and click on welcome matt.
And this is how you customize it. So head over here to matts and then click matts and then click on matt one.
And this is how you edit your matt, and basically what this does is it inserts itself at the top of your content making sure not to block any visitors if they want to get straight to your content. They can simply scroll down in the welcome matt will disappear and you’re going to see what that is going to look like here in a second. So we’re going to customize this. You’ll get a feel of what we’re doing now we’re making a very specific call to action. So I’m going to type in create a profitable blog with our signature three step WTC system.
I’ll go ahead and remove that and then right here for submit I’ll type in. Get started now.
Now this is a very specific call to action when someone submits their e-mail address. This will allow for the opportunity to deliver more value in terms of what creates a profitable blog. What are those three steps that create a profitable blog? And we will answer that through additional education which we can send through e-mail. And this is really a great way to connect with your audience and build the Know Like and Trust factor by educating them on their specific desires. So when done properly the education that you will provide will make selling your product or service a lot easier because you’re leading with value. And this allows your subscriber to make an educated decision in terms of buying your product or service. It truly is a win win. Now there are countless ways to use Welcome Matt, you can use it to collect emails with your lead magnet and a Lead Magnet is just a piece of value that you give in exchange for an email address. This could be a free PDF report a consultation a video a coupon or you can direct your visitors to a popular blog post. Getting your buyers to a special sale that you’re throwing that day. So there are countless ways to use this little tool. Now let’s get this bad boy set up.
OK now we want to save our matt, so you can always adjust the background color to the color of the text really to your liking in terms of how your blog looks.
But I would leave everything as is for now just to get this up and going and you can always come back and play with this stuff later because this can really get you sidetracked so go ahead and save changes and then head up here and click on home and then click on campaign and then you want to select campaign one and then head to display rules.
Now as of right now this is going to be showing on all the pages. We just want this to show on the home page.
So add a show rule on the home page and that’s it and then go ahead and click save. And the last thing you want to do is unpause the campaign and then save it.
And you can always pause it so it stops it completely the welcome matt by adjusting the setting right here and then close this out and I’ll refresh the blog and you’ll see what this looks like.
Video 2 Audio.mp4
Pretty awesome right. So this is what they’re going to see immediately when they hit your blog. A strong call to action. So put something out there that you’re really trying to push. And if they’re not interested. No big deal.
They can scroll down right here and boom they’re on your blog. Pretty slick.
So that’s welcome matt. OK. Couple more things before we finish with welcome matt. Click on the crown and click on welcome matt.
Now here are the e-mails that you will collect when someone submits their e-mail address and you’ll see them populate here. And you can download them and that’s cool because then you can upload them which is super easy to a service like MailChimp. And we’re going to talk about MailChimp here real soon and that’s really kind of the glue that makes all this stick is the e-mail marketing and that’s where you’re able to really build that Know Like and Trust factor and provide that additional education through e-mail and that’s extremely important. We’ll talk more like I said here in a bit about MailChimp. What’s awesome about this I mean you get a little bit more advanced and you’re ready for this to upgrade, It’s certainly worth doing. So you’ll head to click on campaigns and then click on campaign 1 and then go to integrations right here. Now this allows you to connect with any of these providers. So MailChimp right here if you click on this says MailChimp is a sumo pro feature. It basically passes your email contacts right over to MailChimp so it eliminates you having to manually download and upload to MailChimp which is I think is a really cool feature. But just starting out not a big deal. Like I said you just want to get this up and going see what’s working and then improve upon what you feel like you need. You don’t need the pro right now. Just get this up and going.
So when you’re ready for pro all you would do is click connect and then you can start with a small paid annually medium whatever you’re comfortable with whatever serves your blog’s needs. And that’s it.
So you have the free for now and you are done with welcome matt. OK so head back up to the crown icon and we’ve got one more of these little bad boys to install. We’re going to install where is it, List Builder. Awesome. Turn that on. Close this out.
Now what this does is really cool. It helps you capture visitors on your blog through a pop up or light box which makes sure they subscribe to your email list and come back for more. So what it does is detect the exact moment when a visitor is about to leave your blog and immediately displays a pop up asking for their e-mail address in exchange for a piece of value such as a lead magnet. And this is a really good opportunity to use a lead magnet. We talked about that earlier. The magnet is something like a free PDF or a video or a consultation something that you’re giving away for free. A piece of value in exchange for an e-mail address. And again this allows you to continue the conversation through email with your prospects and keep reaching out to them and you’re probably starting to catch on here. It’s very very important to get people on your email list this way you can start to build relationships with them. And this allows you to stay in front of your blog subscribers and start that conversation to build relationships. And of course establish new customers. OK so let’s get this plug in set up before we do that. I want to disable real quickly the welcome matt so it doesn’t keep popping up and all you have to do is just turn it off and that’s it.
It’s paused click out of that then head back up here to the crown icon.
Click on list builder and this is very easy to get set up.
Go ahead and click Create new pop up I’m just going to use the cheat sheet for our WTC system.
So I’ll name this WTC.
OK then collect emails. This is what you want to use this for. And there’s other options here. So you can play with this but I would recommend for this to collect emails.
So go ahead and click next.
Then you can pick what you like here. Kind of like the screen. Switch it up a little bit and you can change the size here.
Actually with large default you can have it do kind of some fun things bounce back flip.
OK. So now let’s actually edit, the pop over. So all you do is click on it. This is the headline.
And here is my call to action which is really our cheat sheet lead magnet.
Make that a little bit smaller.
So cheat sheets kind of cool that catches people’s attention people love cheat sheets and things that are easy. So that’s a Good thing to create and it could just be a little PDF document. It’s real simple. Anything that solves a specific problem. So cheat sheet create a profitable Web site and blog in three steps.
And I just change the size here to 26 you can play with this.
And then right here. And I’ll erase this.
The secret sauce we used to create profitable sites grab your free guide below to get started now.
Awesome. OK I want to tighten this up a little bit. I want to go back up here and make this a little bit smaller. That looks a lot better. And then for the button you just want to make this more compelling, subscribe now,
No. awesome, That looks good. So everything looks good in here.
So ultimately your lead magnet should solve a very specific problem and give value to your new subscriber so they can solve that problem this is a win win because if they believe that they can actually help them and it does they start to not only believe that they can do it. They start to believe that you can help them do it which really really helps you turn that new subscriber into a customer. So go ahead and save and then exit. OK so go ahead and click up here on the cheat sheet.
And here is. Pretty cool right. So then head down to if you like everything and everything looks good. Which it does head down to visibility. Leave it on smart mode.
This will do it for you. So basically if someone leaves your blog page or something like that the little pop up will come up. So I would leave it on smart mode and then click next.
So check this out the subscribe success redirect URL. This can be used for many different things. What’s cool is now you can redirect your new subscriber to a thank you page where they can access the download link for your lead magnet and one of the biggest benefits to use a thank you page is that it gives you the opportunity to present a tripwire which is just a low dollar offer that you use to acquire new customers immediately after they opt in for your lead magnet. Now this is awesome because on your think Page you’re giving a strong piece of value up front for free that your new subscriber can download immediately along with a thank you message. Then right underneath that you present your trip wire or low ticket offer to new subscriber. Now what I love about this is that you tap into the law of reciprocity which simply means that when someone gives you something you feel an obligation to give back. But you’ve got to make sure that free giveaway is awesome and highly valuable along with the tripwire offer in the online world your first impression can make or break you. Those offers should bring tears to people’s eyes because they’re so good. Not kidding. They should be really bad ass. And check this out you’re going to love this. I want to show you how to set this all up properly so it’s dialed in your thank you page. Thank you Message. And of course your trip wire offer now if you don’t have one of those. Don’t worry we have you covered.
We teach you how to make those over on our Web site you can check that out. When you’re ready for that. The important thing is for now. Stay focused. Stay dialed in to getting this blog off the ground live online. You have something to be proud of and something to present to the world. So it’s important to set the foundation. You can always add upon that. Don’t get distracted with all these other things. I’m bringing up a lot of concepts but the important thing is to set the foundation get this right then move on to the next thing and we’ll get there.
So also something to take note of with this redirector URL you can also direct people to other pages on your Web site. Another Web site. A Facebook page. Really anything that you want in this context we’re going to use it for a thank Page. So head down here and click next and this is the email service integration which of course is a pro feature which you don’t need just yet. Now in terms of new subscribers this functions the exact same way as welcome matt, all of your subscribers will be stored here in sumo me and you can simply download your subscribers and then upload them into MailChimp which is really easy to do. So let’s go ahead and save this real quick. And we’ll enable it.
Yep. So now let me show you how this functions. So I’ll close this out close this scroll down a little bit.
There it is how awesome is that.
Now I’m going to type in my email address.
Now remember we don’t have it redirected anywhere yet. We’ll come back to that once that page is set up.
But I want to show you real quick what this looks like in the list builder dashboard. So we’ll head back to the ground icon click on list builder. Now it says one conversion. So all you want to do to download this as you come over here.
Download CSV So that’s downloaded and I’ll show you in MailChimp how to upload that to your list the appropriate list. And it’s really really easy. Now I get this question asked a lot. This is the easiest way to do this. If you don’t want to pay for the pro if you try to do it another way you’re gonna have to glue 20 different things together. That becomes a problem as well. This is the best of what’s working right now in the easiest way to do this. The path of least resistance and when you’re ready you can go with the pro. That way it’s seamless, for now
download these bad boys upload them to MailChimp really easy. How bad do you want it.
That’s what it comes down to. All right. OK so let’s go in and close this out.
Close this now if you’re wondering why we’re adding all these little tools all these little email optin forms. If you haven’t caught on yet it is absolutely crucial that you get your blog visitors on your email list. This way you can start to build trust and relationships and ultimately customers. You need to write that down. Underline it frame it whatever it’s going to take to let that sink in. This is crucial if you’re not doing this. It’s most likely your visitors will come to your blog once. Not likely to return. You need to connect through e-mail to continue the conversation and build value based off your visitors specific interest. This way you can leave your subscribers wanting more. Looking forward to and hungry for your next posts. Ok awesome. The next plug in you guessed it MailChimp for wordpress. Now I hope you’re having some fun. I know this is a lot of nuanced kind of heavy stuff these concepts are new to you so of course I hope to be patient with yourself having some fun and you’re going to think yourself that you went through this you will have put in the work to not only serve you serve your audiences aswell I love it.
OK so now I want you to head back to your dashboard go back here in the dashboard and then click on plug ins and then add new and then you’re going to search for MailChimp for wordpress. And here it is right here. Look at all these reviews. It’s an awesome plug in. So go ahead and install now.
And then activate and actually I get to go right back here I want to show you something that’s really important right here it says Last updated one week ago. This is a good rule of thumb to see how often these plug ins are being updated. So when you’re looking for other plug ins make sure you’re seeing them updated every so often if it was like a couple of years. Six months is kind of pushing it. Make sure otherwise that can be problemattic and security issues for your WordPress Web site. So that’s just something to be aware of because if they’re not being updated sometimes they not might not function properly with the latest versions of WordPress as well. OK.
So back to MailChimp for WordPress. I would say this is the ideal tool for collecting e-mail addresses and starting with email marketing and this will allow you to add e-mail contact forms on your actual blog. All right. This is extremely important to have. This is the bridge to connect you with MailChimp and your blog subscribers. And I know I’ve said this plenty of times but I like to use e-mails to build the know like and trust factor by adding more value sending emails out with my latest blog post. You know people buy from those they like and trust and there’s no better way to do that by adding more value through your blog and you can even send e-mail updates with your latest sales and products.
So let’s get this set up right now. OK so now head over here to MailChimp for WordPress and click on MailChimp. And right here it says Get your API key. This is so the MailChimp for WordPress plugin can communicate in pass your contacts right over into MailChimp. So we need to get that set up right now so click this link and this is where you’ll set up your MailChimp account. Says need a MailChimp account click Create an account.
So this is MailChimp and it’s a free service to start e-mail marketing. It’s awesome because it allows you to send and receive e-mails to your new blog subscribers. So when someone comes to your blog and they opt in and they become a subscriber you can now send timely messages specific to their desired interests. And this is the vehicle MailChimp to be able to make that happen. And what’s really cool is is this is how you can sell your products and services through e-mail. Think about it. How many times have you possibly bought something through an e-mail that you received now these days, Probably often. So email marketing is extremely powerful and you know you can send out promotions about your products and services sales updates on your blog post. It’s incredible what you can do with e-mail marketing. So we’re going to get started with this now.
So fill this out real quick and then go ahead and click.
Get started now. And then over to my email real quick and activate this account so I’ll be back in a moment.
The email you should have received should look like this and all you want to do is go ahead and click activate account then go ahead and select this and then select all images with the store front.
OK so this one.
Won this one. Verify. Ok cool.
Just go ahead make sure you fill in what’s appropriate for your blog or business. Continue.
Yes. And you can always have this later.
And if you want to I would recommend this. It’s always better to learn as much as possible. Just getting started out but I’ll give you the fundamentals of how you get started now. OK. Awesome. OK so right here in the middle of the page you see audience and right here of course you see import subscribers. We’ll talk more about that in a minute and then create a list click Create a list. OK so this is where you’re going to create your first list and list are just easy ways to organize your contacts your email contacts. So for the list name right here put in something appropriate. People will see this. So it’s something that reflects what your new subscriber requested informattion about. So I named this list WME blog Dash Web site forward slash blog. OK. And you’ll understand why did that here and a little bit so. And for the default email address I’m using James at WME blog dot com so I can send and receive emails from my actual domain name which is more professional and I’ll show you how to set this up here in a moment as well. So next enter the default name so who the actual e-mail is going to be coming from. So I’m using just James Stafford then remind people how they got on your list just enter in something like you’re receiving this e-mail because you opted in at our blog and then putting your domain name there. So as you can see everything is looking good here.
Real straightforward and and this will all come together in a minute. So go ahead and click save cool that your first list.
Now the major benefit of using lists is that you’re able to organize your blog subscribers, In terms of their interests. So this allows for you to send very targeted email campaigns to individual segments of your subscribers in terms of their specific desires or needs. Now this is a win win because you’re delivering value building the know like and trust factor and ultimately moving a subscriber to a customer. So for example I’m going to show you how to add three lists right now. Now we’ve already created the first one specific to Web sites and blogs now and to create a list for traffic and one for customers. So for each one of these lists I will then be able to create three individual email optin forms. What’s awesome is that when we begin to add blog posts here in a bit I’ll be adding one blog post for web site. One blog post for traffic and one blog post for customers. Then I can just pop in the exact email optin form for each one of those blog posts in turn automatically adding the new subscriber to the right list. In terms of their interests. This way I can send e-mails that reflect exactly what they’re interested in whether that be specific information about Web sites and blogs or just simply informattion about how to get traffic to their new blog. Are you seeing the power in this. It’s incredible. And when set up properly this could be a complete game changer for your business. It is really easy to set up.
Now I’m going to show you real quickly how to import your subscribers. Remember the download we did earlier with list builder Well click Import subscribers here. So it’s a CSV file and all you’ll do is select.
Next down here in the bottom right hand corner and then go ahead and can check this off and then browse. I just have it in the downloads here and here is right here. Then choose that and then click Next OK this is just the columns for your CSV file so it mattches up. Everything is fine you can just press save. You can skip this one. You can skip this one and skip this one and then click next because we’re just looking for the e-mail addresses and then go ahead and click Import and there I am. Now you see how easy that was to import your list. Not bad. So just something to be aware of when you’re importing your list. Make sure you’re in the right list that you want to import into. OK. So let’s have a backup to lists. So head back up here to create a list and then create list I’m going to fill this out real quick. OK so I filled everything out. And as you can see this name is WME blog Dash traffic because this is going to be a list specific to traffic. And here’s all my credentials and everything looks good here and I’ll go ahead and say that now we’re done with that list. And then one more list. So back up to lists now we have two lists here and then I’ll create a list create list again and then I’ll fill this one out real quick. OK. Here’s this list this one specific to customers. So everything looks good here.
Now go ahead and save it. Awesome.
Now we have the three lists.
So click on lists website traffic customers perfect.
Now what’s really cool about this is we can send targeted email campaigns speaking to each one of these concepts. So if people are interested in traffic they’ll get a lot of information great quality information based off that specific interest in terms of customers and the same thing goes for web site and blog this way you’re meeting people in their immediate awareness or their pain points and not bombarding them with a bunch of informattion with all these different concepts that are just overwhelming. And hopefully that makes sense. OK so we have one more step to do and to show you how to set up a sign up form and one of the lists so I head back to this one right here. Website blog. There is me that first subscriber and then click on sign up forms. Now see up here it says Please verify James at WME blog dot Com as your default from email address before setting up a sign up form. Now what this is going to do is verify your domain name and that’s real important to get set up and going to show you how to do that right now. OK so in order to complete this step you have to head back over to your c panel. Now if you recall when you initially search your blog the C panel is how you did that. OK so what you’re going to look for is your account info Email from hostgator and this is what it’s going to look like. Here it is right here, now right here
Just look for Gator your account info and you’re looking for your Control Panel right click this and open it up and you tab and make note of your username and of course copy your password.
So go ahead and enter in your account log in info.
Ok now we’re going to set up pretty quickly so it’s very easy to do just follow along step by step and you’ll be in a good place with this. So all we have to do is head down to e-mail accounts right here under e-mail.
Click on e-mail accounts and then I’m just going to name this James at WME blog dot com put in a good password. One that’s easy to remember and then go ahead and click Create account. Perfect. All right.
Head back to a little snappier the host gator control panel click on this and you should be back in the dashboard and then head back to e-mail and then forwarders and this will allow for you to forward your e-mail address that you just created into your favorite e-mail account. So it’s really easy and you’re not having a log in your C panel to access these e-mails. So it makes it real seamless.
So go ahead and click on Add Forwarder type in the address that you just created. So my name is James and the domain at WME blog dot com.
And for the for to email address of putting your favorite e-mail address so you can grab all your new blogs emails in that e-mail account. So I just put in. OK. So and then that’s it. So James here’s the domain and it’s going to be forwarded to this e-mail address so all of our blog e-mail now will come right into your favorite e-mail account and then go ahead and click add Forder perfect.
All e-mail sent to James WME blog dot com will be now copied to be Stafford v at iCloud dot com.
Awesome. OK so now we want to head back to MailChimp and verify the domain. So right here it says you must verify and have permission to send from wme blog dot com click verify domain, send verification email, pretty cool.
And now it should pop right into my iCloud account so I’ll grab that put in the verification code and we should be set to jet. So now you’ll be able to send receive professional e-mails from your MailChimp account. I will grab that e-mail on that verification code and I’ll be right back.
OK so here’s the e-mail you should be looking for.
See. Look it says to James at wme blog dot com. Pretty cool. That was forwarded right into my iCloud account so you can copy this. I’ll just copy it or you can click this and then pop it right in here and then verify click verify. Awesome. Now you’re set up to send professional e-mails from your MailChimp account.
OK so now we need to head back to the MailChimp API settings for the MailChimp for WordPress plugin.
If you recall all you’ll do is head back to your dashboard and go down to MailChimp and then click on MailChimp and then from here, You just want to click this link get your API key here. Go ahead and click that. So now down here in click Create a key. Go ahead and copy all this and then head back to your MailChimp API settings and then just pop that key paste it right in there and then save changes that you’re connected.
Now did you see that it just populated all of our lists.
Pretty awesome right. Now you’re starting to see how this all comes together. This is about to get really cool. You’re about to see how easy it is to add a little short codes to the bottom your posts and boom you have a little e-mail optin form.
It’s so easy to love it. So before we do that go ahead and click on this is the first list that we set up. Click that these are the fields your form will have will have an e-mail address, First name last name I want to tighten this up. Typically I’d like to use just the e-mail address. And what we’ve seen is that the more fields that you have there the more less likely people are to opt in. So as rule of thumb I always like to go with just the e-mail address. Now you can use what you like. I would recommend just e-mail address and to do that. Go ahead and click edit this list to MailChimp. And this is real easy.
Then go ahead and click on sign up forms then click general forms then head down here and all you want to do is remove what you don’t want and just go to type and delete click delete and then we’ll get rid of this one. Perfect. Now that one’s done. We’re going to finish up with the rest of the forms as well. So this has to be done for each list that we created. So head back up to lists. We just finished this one so head to traffic sign up forms general forms the same here. And one last one lists customers sign up forms general forms.
Awesome. OK all done. Now when we head back here and click Renew MailChimp list these fields will be removed. So go ahead and click Renu MailChimp lists.
And then go ahead and click on. See. Perfect.
OK now I’m not sure how to add this form to that post that we set up earlier. So what we’ll do is had two forms.
So this is where you’re going create your forms for your blog. And what’s cool is you can add these little forms in sidebars on your poster pages just about anywhere on your WordPress blog and are going to show you a little bit later.
But for now I’m sure you have to add this to a post that we created earlier so name your form. And really the important thing is is to make sure that you’re adding it to the appropriate list.
So the form you’re going to be creating you know that those subscribers are going into that list. This one that I’m creating now is going to be going on the blog post 7 blogging tips for beginners. So of course I want those subscribers to go into that list because more than likely they’re interested in getting started with a blog. And I can send them informattion appropriate to that and I can do that of course through that list targeted e-mails about blogging tips starting with blogging, Etc so go ahead and click add new form.
OK just a couple of changes we’re going to make in here. Real simple.
This is kind of the HTML of your form and these are this is like the verbiage that goes into it. So I want to change sign up right here to get started now to better call the action I feel like.
OK so all done here. Go ahead and save changes. Perfect. And then head down here to use the short code just copy the short code. This is all you need.
Just copy this and then head back up to posts and then all posts then click on your blog post 7 blogging tips for beginners.
Go and click edit and then head down to the very bottom of this post. Scroll down to the very bottom and then right here I’m going to pop in the short code.
So there you have 7 things you need to know before you start blogging. If you want to learn how to start your own profitable blog and easy step by step way to make sure you check out my video tutorials here.
That’s just a simple call to action. And now from there once they opt in I can start to send more emails in terms of that specific interest whether that be more blog post video tutorials just more killer content to build that know like and trust factor. Ultimately really indoctrinating my new subscriber to who I am what my blog is about and potentially sell my products and services.
So let’s take a peek and see what this form looks like so I will go ahead and update the page or the post and then you want to select View Post ok we’ll head down.
Now this is a ton of value and if someone reads through this entire article and they like it they’ll put in their email address. The point is you’re over delivering value and let your work do what it’s supposed to do. If you’re providing killer content people feel a lot more inclined to be a part of your community and recognize you as an authority in your space and it ultimately helps you sell your products and services. This is really what I’ve done. There is no shortcuts to success. I put out the best of what I can do for my community and people like it. You can only do the best that you can do. But if you know that you’re doing the best that you can do and you’re putting out the best that you can that’s all you can do. You know and feel good about it when your head hits that pillow at night you’ll feel good about what you put out there to help other people and you get to make money. Not a bad deal. Take care of the relationship and the money will follow. Now what’s really cool, And here’s a protip for you when you’re ready for this. What you’ve just done is created an asset right here.
7 blogging tips for beginners.
You could create a little Facebook ad and the ad might say 7 blogging tips for beginners. A cool little image and you would direct people back to this unbelievable blog post tons of value.
And by the end of it they’re pretty pumped if you’ve done a good job which we have here.
Pop that email address. Now you have a new subscriber through Facebook ads and we’ll talk more about that later. That’s a whole different game. However strategically thinking you’re creating a foundation for you to build upon to where you can start to do other things to market your blog and Facebook ads is a, as you’re probably aware of a really good opportunity to do that. So now we’re going to go ahead and test this opt in form. But before we do that I want to bring more attention to this call to action in something you might want to consider as well.
Just head back over to the dashboard then head down to MailChimp and then click on forms and then click on appearance and this is the form style I’m going to choose red and red a good color overall for a called Action button and then save changes. And of course play with this. But we’re going to do this just to bring out that call to Action button and make it more focal on the actual blog post. So then we’ll head back to posts all posts and just click on the post and then go to View Post and you’ll see the changes reflected here. Perfect. Now I’m going to enter in my email address. Click get started now.
Now head back over to MailChimp.
Click on lists and now you’ll see two subscribers and there I am right there. Okay perfect. Now there’s one more setting I want to go back and adjust. Now back to your dashboard and then head down to MailChimp for WordPress and then click on just MailChimp and then actually go to forms and then settings use double opt in.
Just go ahead and select no for that and press OK and then save changes.
So this way when someone opts in they’re not getting an email saying Oh do you want to confirm to be on this list. Etc etc.. This just makes it real straightforward. Once they opt in there now on your list.
So that’s MailChimp andn MailChimp for WordPress for you and I know we’ve just covered a lot and I’m excited to be able to share this stuff with you and hopefully you’re starting to see the power in it and why you need to start to collect those email addresses and build your email list so you can start to build relationships and start to market your products and services through your blog. This is essentially the customer step of my WTC system. So now that you have the foundation of your blog properly set up it’s time to start to build out your blog so you can see how this is done properly and you can fully conceptualize how to start a profitable blog. So let’s head back to the WordPress dashboard. So
head up to dashboard and then click on home. Let
me ask you a quick question. Would you be interested in learning the most effective way to deeply connect with your audience. Making them come back for more. Over and over again. Ultimately creating trust or what I like to refer to as the know like and trust factor. Well that’s where your blog comes in. Blogging is one of the best ways to establish your credibility and authority educate your community and build a personal connection with your audience all at the same time. And when it’s done right blogging can help you build your audience and encourage them to become lifelong customers with you. The thing to remember is that people online are usually searching for solutions to their problems and blogging about the topics most relevant to your audience is what’s going to help them have confidence in your products and services. Like I said blogging is essentially about building the know like and trust factor. In short you’re more likely to buy from someone you trust. So hopefully you can see why blogging is essential to the success of growing your business online. So now I to show you how to properly set up your blog for your audience and for the best user functionality. And going to do this by showing you how to add three new posts so you can really get the hang of this. You’re going to love it. Have some killer tips in between each one and you’ll begin to see how this all comes to fruition.
So the first post we’re going to be adding is about Web sites and blogs. The second post is about traffic in the third post is how to turn your traffic into new customers. Now I’ve included these posts in Word documents along with all the images for these posts in my content folder and you can find the content folder on my blog over at Web sites made easy dot tv. Forward slash blog forward slash your dash blogging dash adventure. Now I encourage you to grab this because it has all the content and all the images for this blog. And if you’re just getting started out you can use this as placeholders to get some momentum going. Then you can add in all your new content. This way you’re reinforcing the learning by applying what you’re practicing. So it’s a really really good thing and I encourage you to do that. OK now I’m going to show you how to add in three different categories for each of these three post. Now we talked about categories a little bit earlier in categories really create a solid foundation an infrastructure for your blog which are about to see. So this way your audience can find other useful posts related to a specific category. Ultimately categories create organization and structure in your blog. Now let’s get the set up right now. So go ahead and head up here two posts and then click on categories.
Now just to clarify posts are specifically used for creating your blog content in pages are used for static pages like your Contact Us page about us page services page pages that are rarely changed whereas posts are updated frequently. So those are going to be used for your blog.
So for this category and to type in web site and then for the slug is going to type in a web site. And this is just the URL friendly version of the category.
So and then click add new category.
Perfect then this one add new category going for this Uncategorized this won’t delete.
So we’ll just edit this one.
And then update it. And go back to category’s.
I’m going to capitalize these real quick update that.
And then here you don’t really need to be worried about any of this. You can add some descriptions if you’d like for each of your categories. Not a big deal. And then go back to categories. Okay perfect. As you can see right here, Customers has one. Looks like one post. Let me see what that is. Seven blogging tips.
So I have to edit this category and you can go here to edit it and you can just put this under Web site and you can have two different categories form if you’d like.
So they’ll pop up in two different categories or just leave that Web site and then you can update it then head back to category’s. Again,
So how this works is that when we create a new post what we’ll do is we’ll select a specific category that applies to that post and I’ll show you how that’s done properly here in a minute when we begin to add our new post. So taking the time these categories correctly can boost your exposure in the search engines which is a huge bonus. Raise the average time on your posts of your visitors and provide an overall better experience for your audience. So as I said you want to ensure your categories organize your content for your audience. Therefore keeping them on your blog longer with related posts specific to their interests. So for example someone might be searching google and may find a specific post on your blog about traffic and once they land on your blog they will see the category traffic in find all of your related articles in terms of traffic. Now this is awesome because it delivers more great content to your visitors. Ultimately gaining more subscribers and increasing the time that the spin on your blog which is a win win because Google loves this. So when we start to add new post and then we apply the specific category to the post, You’ll see them right here like I showed you earlier. They’ll populate right here in the count area. OK so this is where things are about to get really cool. We’re going to start to add more posts and more content to your blog. So you see how this all comes together. And of course I want to show you how to add categories we just talked about.
So let’s get started with the next post. So now I want you to head back to the dashboard. Click on dashboard and home.
And I’m not going to be posting about garbly gook like you might see in other tutorial videos rather I’m going to be posting intentionally and the aim is to provide posts that are full of actionable value so you can clearly conceptualize how this is done properly. The series of post will be posting explain the exact steps we use and how to create a successful profitable blog. So pay attention. You might want to grab a pen that thinking cap because we have some killer goodies that you won’t want to miss. So let’s dive into this next post. So the steps we use are as follows. Number one Web site. Number two traffic. Number three. Customers. These are the steps that lead cold blog traffic further along the path towards becoming a highly valuable paying customer. So are you ready to get started. Awesome. So if you’re just beginning with your blog. I’ve been at this for a bit navigating the online landscape can be challenging and one of the most common questions we get is simply how can I get started. I’m new to this whole thing and I need to get up and running fast in just three simple steps you can truly transform your online business. Now imagine having a blog that will work for you 24/7 serving you as the foundation for your online business which effectively serves as your customer cash machine. It’s awesome.
And to illustrate each of these steps I’m actually going to be publishing each of them as a blog post to a new blog here that we can see or to post your new blog and they’ll be intentionally written in order to provide real actionable value. So in the first post I’m going to show you an overview with a proper blog should look like and I’ll show you how you can set up your blog to function properly by being geared towards serving your audience with valuable content to ultimately sell your products and services.
So go ahead and head over to posts and then click on Add new. And then I want you to head over to the content folder and then click on blog posts and then Web site. This is the first blog post.
Now I want you to add these post to follow along to reinforce the learning So ultimately you’re plying which are learning in practice. Ok this way you get a good feel of how to add blog posts. So go ahead and copy all this.
And then we’re just going to paste this in. But before I pasted in head over to text. And then paste it in. This will pretty much copy the exact formattting as is shown in the Word document. So click visual. It pretty much looks the same so the formattting carries over from the Word document. We just got a bold a couple of things and I’ll show you how to do that in a minute. So then head back over to the post then I’ll go ahead and grab the title here. Copy that. Just paste it right up here.
Capitalize that. And then we have a couple of images tagged. So right here really simple. So just highlight all that. And then remember wherever you. Put your cursor that’s where the image is going to be inserted. So it looks good. Then click on Add media. Then click on upload files select files and this is the image right here. Step one website out line go ahead and choose that.
OK the size looks good here this is actually a really big image. So if it’s set to full size just bring it to large and large should look great and then click insert into post.
Okay perfect. Now one more image. Which is down here will highlight all this. Delete it, cursor looks good there then add media. Upload files select files. And here’s the image right here. Building a profitable Web site So click that OK the size looks good. Then you click insert into post. All right.
And now. We’ll head over here to this menu over here.
And for format, standard is good here.
Categories will select website and then set featured image in the bottom here. Now this is the image that’s going to highlight this blog post.
So, or represent this blog post. Click on upload files select files.
I love this image right here. Click on this one right here website and choose that. And like I said all the images in here are optimized properly for this blog. So this is set at 2000 by twelve hundred. And go ahead and click Set featured image. OK that looks good. And I’m going to go ahead and build a couple of things in here. So do that real quick. Click. Pretty easy. Bold. And then I’ll make a link right here. So how I do all that. Click the link. And I’ll just highlight this again or copy it all because that’s where I want to link to. So just copy this.
And then click link and then paste that in there. Now I have a clickable link and.
The last step we will have to do is get the email opt in form. But before we do that I want to go ahead and save everything that we’ve done. Everything looks good. And this should change right here. Actually one last thing almost forgot the SEO the Yoast SEO Editor. So for this right here being successful online this looks good. So we want to get the focus keyword. So in this case. Want to optimize for a long tail keyword phrase which is.
This right here and I’ll just pop this in right here.
So check this out. So here’s the key word phrase or a longtail key word phrase create a profitable Web site and blog.
So if I scroll up we now have it in the title in the URL we have it right here in the content, create a profitable Web site and blog and and of course here in the snippet.
Pretty good. So this looks good.
So now I’ve are actually gone ahead and published this. But you should say published right here.
I’ll go ahead and click update and then click View Post.
Now we just need to add the e-mail opt in. So go ahead and click on edit post and then head down here and we’re going to pop in the e-mail often form just right here.
And if you can recall from the first post all we need to do is add in a little short code which we’re going to grab right now and pop that in right here and then whatever form. So Also check this out. See it says create a profitable website and blog. This is our keyword phrase.
Or longtail key word phrase. And as you can see it’s right here too. So that’s what this post is being optimized for. Pretty cool. Anyway head back over here to MailChimp and then click on forms. Now this post is for web site blog so we don’t need to create a new form just yet. So copy this. Because this is the forum for a website blog. As you can see right here if we click on MailChimp it’s this one right here. OK and we’re going to create two other forms for traffic and customers. So now that we have our form we head back to posts all posts and then click on this one right here and then edit. And then just head down and then all you do is just delete that and then paste it right in. And click Update. Go ahead and view post. Awesome right. OK so now it’s time for our next post which is traffic. So head back up to the dashboard.
So now that you’ve properly set up your blog you have a foundation for your business or line in this foundation if set up properly can enable your blog to be a vehicle to capture traffic and turn that traffic into subscribers because you see the next most common question we get is now that we have our blog all set up how do we actually get visitors our traffic to visit and subscribe. Well that’s where your blog content comes in. Your blog is all about creating valuable content in order to get traffic and capture new subscribers. From here you can begin to build a community around your content by adding tons of value. So how then are you supposed to get traffic. You know one of the absolute best ways to grow your blog is through consistently creating compelling content that helps to solve a problem for your audience and you can create this content by adding valuable posts to your blog. The best approach to this by far is to post on a consistent basis. Once a week ideally keeping your blog dynamic and active is a commitment but with consistency comes results increase blog posts that cover just about anything but one of the best strategies is to understand the pain points of your audience and create content that helps to solve their problems. All while positioning your online brand is the ultimate authority it’s awesome. So now that you’ve got your content created you have to get it in front of people. This may sound difficult but again with the right tools in the right know how It’s actually really simple.
So on to show you exactly how in this next blog post that we’re going to be adding about traffic.
So go ahead and click on posts and then add new. They were to head over to the content folder. Click on blog posts and then traffic. That will open the Word document traffic. Copy the content. Click on text. Paste it right in. And good click on visual. Right now. Grab the title to the post.
Paste it right in. Looks good. Add our images.
Click on ADD media. Upload files select files. To blog posts. Traffic. This one right here. Choose that
Video 3 Audio.mp4
Size looks good. Click insert into post. Perfect and head down to the next one. Which is right here. Highlight all that.
And add media. Upload files select files.
It’s this image right here. Click choose. The size looks good. And right here the title to. Remember you can always optimize these for SEO. Like with the keyword in here. As well. Insert into post. Looking good.
And we’ll add the email opt in form. Let’s go ahead. Everything’s looking good so far. So head over here to this menu format standard. We want to select our category which is traffic then head down to set featured image.
Upload files select files.
And we’ll select this. It’s a beautiful image remember.
Awesome images really really compelling images riveting images is going to make your blog stand out and really shine. So go ahead and click Set featured image. Awesome. OK so now I want you to head up here. Now here is the long tail keyword phrase that we’re optimizing this blog post for get quality blog traffic. And I have it right here. Get quality blog traffic as you can see.
In the post and also, we can click this and I can put this in here as well and optimize the images. All right. So head down to the Yost as your editor. And go ahead and paste in.
The focus keyword phrase of the longtail key word phrase get quality blog traffic and you can see it populate it right there get quality blog traffic. Right.
So we have it in.
Right here the title and it will be in the URL once we publish the post in the image, and, down here is the focus keyword phrase so we are good to go here. So everything is looking good in here. All we need to do is add the email in form and we’ll go ahead and publish this post to go ahead and click publish.
As you can see it’s here too know. So let’s head back over to, Forms, MailChimp click on Mailchimp.
OK so here are the lists. Now in order to create a form for each one of these lists. So once someone ops in they’ll go into each one of these individual lists you have to upgrade to the premium version of MailChimp.
And if you click on forms you’ll see right down here it says Do you want to create more than one form and you can have a look. And this is not necessary at all and to show you a manual way to do this and you do it once and it’s set and forget. But if you want to make it seamless and just make this a little bit easier. Not a big deal you can add multiple forms with this plug in and it’s just a one time payment of $49. It just depends on what you what kind of functionality you’re looking for. So you can go this way or the manual way which I want to show you right now and all you would do is just go over here open this up in a new tab and then get signed up with these guys and then just create other forms. It’s real real easy. Now will do is just head back over to MailChimp. And I’ll just go ahead and click here to access it. OK. So what you want to do now is head to lists. Now we already have a form for this one. OK. Now to create a new form for this one and this is super easy to do. So just go ahead and click on this list then go to sign up forms then click down on embedded forms. This looks familiar right. OK so we want to take the, check that off, we just want the e-mail address that looks good. And it’s pretty much done here.
So all we’re going to do is just copy this HTML and don’t let this scare you it’s just a bit of code you’ll see here in a minute. So instead of it saying subscribe I’m going to change that, to, where is it right her,
OK value. Here it is right here.
And that’s it. So,
I’m going to do is go ahead and copy this. And then paste it and you’ll see here in a minute. It’s this easy, and once we do this you’re not going to have to mess with this again. OK so this is the form specific to the traffic list that we created earlier. So head back to the dashboard. So we’re going to go on this list right here and then head back to the posts.
And then all posts. And then click on edit.
And then just paste it in right here.
Now when you’re adding HTML you always want to go to text. Then we’ll head down here to the very bottom. And I’m going to write, here where it says email optin, I’m going to paste all the code right in there. OK. And then just go back to visual.
And it’s done. OK. And then go ahead and update.
View Post. Perfect ok I’m going to go back to this post and bold a couple of things.
Kind of cool we have a little listicle here. Remember the importance of that.
It naturally makes people want to read,
the entire post. So some good images.
And actually I want to get rid of this indicates required field. So I’m going to head back to MailChimp when you click on the traffic list and click on embedded forms. And then we’re going have to redo this, so we’ll get rid of this.
This is exactly how you’ll do this going forward. Okay. And just unselect this one. So that’s it. And then down here. Just got to change the SUBSCRIBE.
To Get Started Now.
And that’s it. Just go ahead and highlight all that and then copy it, then we’ll head back.
Click on text then right here. Begin MailChimp sign up form.
Just delete all that and then paste this right in. And that should be it. I will get a visual, update, and then view post.
Perfect a lot better.
Ok that’s it for that post.
We have one more post to do so let’s head back to the dashboard.
So at this point I’ve shown you exactly how to properly set up your blog to really communicate your main message and share your story. I’ve set you up with my favorite tools and plugins that should fast track your way to a successful blog. Then I showed you exactly how to create incredibly valuable content that is presented consistently to your audience all while helping them solve their main pain points and compelling them to take action. So now you’re ready for our final step and now that you have your blog set up properly and you begin to gather traffic. Now what? How do you bridge the gap from someone being a simple blog visitor into an actual buying customer? How do you turn blog traffic into sales? Now that’s where the final step comes in. Now there are plenty of ways to do this but the one single most effective way that we’ve found is to provide incredible value through what’s called a funnel. Now a marketing or sales funnel is really meant to strategically drive that traffic through a series of pages with certain call to action in order to provide value, develop trust and effectively transition someone into an actual customer. That’s why we’ve been adding all these little forms. That way you can begin to send more value through email ultimately leading your new subscribers to your product or service. You see if you’re not getting people on your e-mail list more than likely your blog visitors will come to your blog once and are not likely to return. Your blog is really just a vehicle for you to acquire new customers.
I’m going to say it again your blog is really just a vehicle for you to acquire new customers. So if someone gets to know you a little bit more through your emails and blog updates they will be more interested in finding what you have to offer as solutions to their problems, and as your able to provide more solutions and additional valuable resources for them to utilize. You’re able to turn subscribers into paying customers in new customers into repeat buyers. It is awesome. So to do all this I’m going to show you exactly how in the next blog post here you’re going to love how this will transform your blog into a customer cash machine.
So let’s get this last post dialed in head to posts, add new. And then we’re going to head over to the content folder.
Blog post and then customers then grab the post.
Copy all this, head to text. Paste it right in.
Visual OK lookin good back over grab the title turn traffic into sales.
Paste it right in.
OK so I own a copy or longtail key word phrase.
And as you can see it’s right here as well.
Turn traffic into sales head down and then put it right here in the focus key word and you can see it right here in the snippet as well looking good. Now to add the images to the post. So that’s here’s this one.
Go ahead and click Add media upload files select files.
The size looks good here so we’ll go ahead and click insert into post. So now the next image so scroll down.
And it’s right here add media upload files select files customers for life choose that. Insert into post.
Now one more image.
Upload files. Select files.
This one WTC outlined, size looks good.
Insert into post. Perfect, Now, here we go.
Add a keyword to that image.
Looking good OK so that’s it for the post format.
Standard over here for the category customers. And now set featured image.
Upload files select files will grab this one right here.
Customers, choose that set featured image. Now everything is looking good here. We just got to add e-mail opt in form.
OK so go ahead and publish the post.
And we’ll head back to MailChimp and then click on lists. And customers. Sign up forms. Embedded forms. And then remember we’ll just go ahead and we’ll just unselect that. Then unselect this one. Head down here and where it says subscribe for value.
To copy this and we’re to paste it right in. So head back to the post click text and then head down right where it says email opt in will go up one backspace and then paste it right in perfect.
Then click visual. See how easy this is. It’s a piece of cake once you get the hang of it.
Got to practice, you know this all rests on practice.
So I’m going to go ahead and highlight some of this or bold, bold here.
Bold kind of another listicle here. And that’s it. So go ahead and update the post. Go ahead and click View Post. Unbelievable image.
Awesome. There’s the email opt in form. Perfect. Now head back to the dashboard.
So congrats! You’ve successfully set up your first set of blog posts and we’ve just added three new blog post to our blog and I’ve showed you a bunch of killer tools to get your blog dialed in for traffic subscribers and ultimately customers. So hopefully you see just how easy this is to get started and the range of options that are available to highlight your content and add value for your audience. Ultimately positioning you as an authority in your space. So by taking care of your audience and by truly giving your best content you will find it so much easier to sell your products and services and I really really want that to sink in for you. Its so important to always take care of the relationship and the money will follow. Remember that always serve to the best of your ability by providing unbelievable content. So I’m pumped for you, you now have just about everything to get started to create a profitable blog. So next we’re going to add some pages to your blog. And remember we use pages for things like your about us page contact us page. Things like that and remember pages are typically static which means they rarely change whereas posts are dynamic which potentially change often with new content updates comments etc..
So there are four new pages that we need to include with our blog and those are the welcome page about us page. Contact Us page and blog page. Really really simple to do. Very similar to creating posts so we’ll start with the welcome page. So head over here.
And instead of post which want to click on pages and then add new.
So I’m head over to the content folder. Grab the welcome page.
Copy it all go to text and just paste it right in. Visual.
Good. OK so I went ahead and finished cleaning this up some and then just go ahead title this Welcome and then for the Focus keyword I’m going to type in this longtail key word phrase, Welcome to the Websites Made Easy blog, and here it is right here as well and the snippet and that’s it. That’s it for this page so no featured image for this and you’ll see why here in a little bit. So go ahead and publish this page.
And we got to add an email contact form as well. So what your welcome page is designed for is to briefly explain the vision for your blog and what your audience can expect. And this is really a great opportunity to set expectations and of course what we’re going to add right now is add a very specific call to action OK. So for this page I’m going to add the subscribers to the website blog list we initially created. So I’m just going to grab a little short code in the MailChimp for WordPress plugin. So I’m going to head right over here to MailChimp and then click on forms. So if you want to set up a new list specific to your welcome page call to action. Just head over to MailChimp dot com and get that set up like I’ve shown you how to do earlier. Remember the goal here is to create very very specific messaging in terms of your subscribers area of interest and this is extremely important. This way you answer their questions solve their problems and they’ll want to come back for more. It’s an awesome way to make a great first impression by adding killer value. So I’m the head down here and just grab this little short code.
Copy it. That’s all I need and head back to pages, all pages, and then click on a welcome, click Edit and I’m going to paste this in right here.
That’s it. And then I’m going to update the page. Perfect.
Now let’s view page.
OK looks great. Now check this out. Join us today by clicking the button below to get started building a profitable blog in seven days with our signature three step WTC system and see your dreams become a reality. Then here’s the called action, now Point being here is that you don’t want to put in here something like subscribe to our newsletter. That’s garbage. No one’s going to do that. You really want your call to action to be compelling something of high value that immediately benefits your audience or your new subscriber. So that’s something that you really really want to have in place. OK. So let’s head back to the dashboard then head over to pages and then add new.
And now we’re going to add your about us page so let me explain what should be included in your about page. The about page really gives you a chance to describe what makes you and your business unique. You have the opportunity to really describe your core beliefs while communicating your true personality that lies behind your brand. So there are many ways you can do this from including your mission and vision statements to adding your personal bio and company story. You can include your core values or simply statements about what you do and why you do it. So you want to be sure to include the name of your business and the members of your team your personal story or the story of your business and how it came to be. Also be sure to include what makes you an expert in a given topic and what your main purpose is for your business and blog are. So let’s get started and add this right now.
So I’m going to head over to the content folder and grab the About Us page.
Just copy all this, select text first and then paste it right in, perfect.
It looks good. Just title this about, and head down to focus keyword, put about us.
OK looks good. And now. We want to set the featured image. So click Set featured image.
Then upload files select files.
And this image right here. Such an awesome image.
With some keywords in there and then set featured image.
Now that’s set and then everything things looking good.
Then we’ll publish the page.
And then view page.
Perfect. Now all I need to do is add in the we need to add in the called action here or the called Action button excuse me. So head back to the dashboard.
And I’m just going to use the same the website blog list I’m just going to grab the short code.
This was the first list we created. So grab the short head back to pages, all pages, about, and then just past it in right here. And update the page. View Page, Perfect.
Ok it’s coming together so next head back to the dashboard. So head back over to pages and then add new. And now we’re going to add the contact us page.
So here’s what should be included in your contact us page. It really serves as an open invitation for your audience to reach you directly with their questions comments or concern so in most cases if someone reaches out to you on your contact page that means they’re probably pretty hungry for what you’re offering and want more information. So it’s best practice if it applies to your business to include your phone number your email address and of course social links. It’s also again extremely important to add an email contact form and I cannot stress that enough if someone wants to send an email. It’s more than likely as I said before they are very engaged, hungry in terms of what you’re offering so your contact is page really and your about us page. It’s extremely important to get these right. They will really make a difference in terms of the visitors overall experience on your blog. So let’s get the content for the contact us page here.
So here it is right here.
Contact us so I’ll copy all of this just, paste it right in.
We can make a link right here. Remember just copy it all.
Click the link up top. Perfect.
And then just click apply and then same for Facebook Twitter or YouTube you just put in your URL and I’ll do that real quick.
Here are my links to all my social channels just copy this. Highlight that and then just paste it. Right in. So these will link right to these social platforms.
Because you never know what modality people prefer. So if they want to check out your stuff on YouTube Twitter whatever their preference is they can go and take a look and check out your other content on their preferred platform. That looks good.
And then here. Type in contact us. Focus keyword, contact us.
Ok that looks good. Now let’s set the featured image.
So head up your click on set feature image upload files select files we’ll go with this one. Set featured image. Awesome. And then I’m going to go ahead and publish this page. And we also have to add the email contact form. So we’re going to do that next. So publish page see what that looks like, view page. Ok tighten this up a little bit. So edit page.
Ok that looks pretty good. Now I want to add an e-mail contact form right below here. And I’m going to add an additional field here so people can actually leave a little message. So to do that we’re going to create a list real quick. Real simple should be a pro at this by now. And we’re going to head over to MailChimp and then once logged in you want to click on lists and then I’m going to create a new list for this because I want this specific for people that are looking for more information.
In terms of our Contact Us page and who’s going to title this WME,
Paste that in and that all looks good. Pretty straightforward.
And then save the list. OK that list is set up.
Now go to sign up forms now embedded forms. I’m going to do this one a bit different.
OK so head over here to the form builder and click this link.
We’re going to add in a text field so click Text.
There it is right there. And we want to change the name of this label.
And then let’s get rid of his last name.
The e-mail address first name didn’t save it OK or we’ll just put.
OK. Perfect. And then go ahead and save field. That’s it. So then head back to once it’s saved, Sign up forms embedded forms. And here it is. Ok cool. And then just unselect this, unselect this and all we have to do now is type and get started now.
Awesome. And that’s it. So then just copy all this code and we’ll paste it right in, and paste it right in here and then click on text right there and then paste it right in there perfect and then click on visual. There it is. I’d be able to go up one there. OK good.
And then go ahead click on update and the form should be right in the page now. You click on View page.
OK so we’re done with the contact page. Now head back up to your dashboard. We have one more page to add and click on pages and then add new.
And this is your blog page we’re going to be creating now and what your blog page is your blog page is where all your blog posts will live and in a minute we’re going to set up a menu with a link that goes straight to your blog page. So when someone clicks that link they’ll see all your blog posts.
So go ahead and up here just type in blog then click Set featured image and then upload files select files then we’re going with header two, just a killer image read here. Choose that and then click Set featured image and then just publish the post and that’s it for this page.
Now all your blog posts have a place to live. Then head down here to the Yoast SEO and then type in for the Focus keyword blog and then for this snippet here check out our blog for strategies tips and hacks to grow your business online.
Looks good. And then just update, now head back to the dashboard.
Love it. We’re in the homestretch. We have some customisations we’re about to do just to make this blog look dialed in. You’re going to love it.
So let’s get started with the customisations right now. So click on visit site.
And then right here click on customize.
And then head to site identity. And we already said this is the blog title and the tag line.
OK now I’m going to unselect this. OK. And I’m going to add a custom logo here. Click select logo and if you don’t have a logo no big deal I’ll show you a resource for that in a second. So go ahead and click on upload files select will look at this right here is a suggested image dimensions 250 by 250.
My logo is 250 by 77 so the width of it is 250. So make sure at least the width is 250.
OK. And I need to go ahead and select and mine is right here.
Choose this and then select it down here and just go ahead and skip cropping.
And there it is right there. OK.
Pretty cool right, now If you don’t have a logo. Really really easy resource to get set up with one. So this is a cool web site and it’s free. It’s called Logo makr dot com logo makr dot com and real simple to get started with this. And you can watch this little tutorial here and actually we have a whole tutorial covering this little tool outside of the scope of this video, I want you to stay focused on this blog.
But when you have time now you have the resource so logo makr dot com. And then of course you can always use that and just not use the logo for the time being. OK. Now down here to site icon and this needs to be 512 pixels wide and tall so it’s like a cube. Now what this is so this makes sense. See these little guys up top here. This is what comes pre-installed this little It’s called a favicon, that comes preinstalled with all host gator sites so that little guy shows up the little alligator MailChimp has there a little dude. Now I’m going to add which I think is real cool this little guy, on ours. So go and select image upload files. And again you can create this over at logo makr just a little cube or you can use mine. I think mine is kind of fun. Click select files and this dude right here, favicon, kind of cool right. So go ahead and choose this and see it’s 512 by 512 and then select it in the bottom right. There it is. See it. Pretty cool. So go ahead and save all your changes and then click back out of sight identity. Now head down to colors.
And then go ahead pick your preference here. I prefer a light but if you select dark you can see it changes that to dark. And then you can customize it whatever color you want and leave it on light as you can see.
I think that looks the cleanest then if you’ve made any changes make sure you save and publish then head back then click on head or media. Now this is awesome. We get to change the entire look of your blog and what’s really cool, You going to love this. You can add in a video which I’m going to show you how to do right now either YouTube video a small clip or something you can upload and create a video Header which is really dynamic and it just creates this really really cool feel for your blog and we’re going to do that right now. But let me show you real quick how to change or add a new image. So all you would do is click add new image.
Upload files select files.
Then here it is. Header one. Now this image is awesome. Go ahead and choose this and then click select and crop pretty cool right. Just go ahead and click skip cropping. Awesome right.
Just a stunning image. It’s really really compelling and you know that’s what you want for your blog you really want to pull your viewers in and make them feel part of the experience and you can add in several different images here and randomise the headers.
So I’ll show you real quick, I’ll add in another image. So add new image.
Click this. Upload files select files and select this one select and crop.
Pretty nice right. And then skip cropping. Just beautiful.
Now we have two in there and you can randomize uploaded headers so you can add in several different header images here and they’ll change randomly as people come back to your blog over and over again which is really cool. OK Awesome. So now you have some really compelling header images to work with. Now I can’t wait to show you this I’m going to show you how to add the video header background which is just amazing looking. And something to be aware of though it’s only going to show on desktops and laptops for the most part. So don’t think something’s broken if you try your video header on your mobile device and it’s not working. Now what we’ll show is one of the images that you’ve selected for your primary image header. So those will show up on the mobile devices. So make sure you pick something good. So I’m going to show you right now how to pop this bad boy in. It’s going to be awesome. OK so head up here to select the video now you can either select the video that you have or you can grab one from YouTube and just pop in the URL. Now something to be aware of right here is it needs to be formatted by 2000 by 1200 the size of these images actually. And if you’re going to export a video through screen flow or however you’re going to export a video make sure you have it set to these dimensions so it fills the screen and looks right. OK.
Now I want to go ahead and select video upload files then select files and then it’s right here it’s called Inspire.
Now if you want to use this you can get this you can grab this entire folder on our blog as I’ve shown you before.
Go ahead and click choose and then choose video.
Awesome right. Very very cool.
So we’ll go ahead and save and publish right here. And congratulations you’ve just changed the entire feel and look of your blog. Yea be sure to grab this bad boy this is yours for free. And you can grab it on her blog and you can add this to your blog as well. If you don’t have a video yet somebody’s going pause this while we make the rest of the edits here and then head to customize.
And then now select menus.
Now this is where we’re going to add in the menu for our blog. So the about us page contactees page on the pages so click add menu and then just type in top menu.
And then click create menu then click on Add items. Click Home, Blog, Contact us, about, and then we can reorder these so we’ll leave home first then blog then contact us. That looks good. And then right here select Top Menu and that’s it and then save and publish. OK cool. You see them down here, that’s our navigation now.
Pretty awesome right.
OK so now we’re going to add in our social links menus to head back up here and then click on Add menu and title the social links menu, then create menu and then tick off social links right here.
Then click add items.
Then custom links and all you do is just type in your social platforms here.
So I’ll put Facebook for the first one then I’ll head over to the content folder and grab my links. To Menu, YouTube, Twitter and Linked-In.
That easy. OK cool. And this is going to add the social links to the bottom which is kind of cool I think. And then click add to menu, and you can rearrange these as you like.
OK so whatever social platforms you have just out of in here and then once you’re done here that’s it and save and publish.
Video 4 Audio.mp4
OK so now that you have that say go ahead and click back and back again and then head down to widgets and click on sidebar widget. And this is the sidebar that’s going to be displayed on your blog. Let’s go ahead and edit some of these and these are just the fields that show up in the sidebar. OK. You’ll see what that looks like here in a minute.
So go ahead remove some of these.
So we can get rid of archives just open that and then remove and then meta remove this and in categories recent comments that looks good.
Recent post I’m going to add in a widget. Click on widget and then click this Text one right here. I’m going to add a call to action here. OK. So right here I’m going to paste in my call to action which is create a profitable blog in just seven days with our signature three step WTC system. You can see what this looks like here in a minute. Now the cool thing is we’re going to add a little form that we created and it’s going to populate the little opt in the email opt form. So I’m going to go ahead and save and publish this. We’re going to come right back to this.
So close this, let’s head back. Close this out and head to the dashboard then head down to MailChimp and then forms and I’m going to grab the little short code and just pop this right in.
And then head back to the site click on customize and widgets. And sidebar then text click text and then just paste in the short code. And then go ahead and close that out. And that looks good.
So I’m going to move actually the call to action right here. So we have the search field, call to Action, our recent post recent comments and the categories, we can actually move this right here. That looks good so you can rearrange this to your preference. OK you’re going to see what this looks like you’re in a minute. So that looks good save and publish and actually in here too in the call to Action area. I believe you can just add in the html code if you don’t want to use this little short code, you can add the html that we were using over at MailChimp and just pop that right in.
So go ahead and save changes and then head back. OK. Now click on widgets again and then click on footer 1 and then click add widget and then head back down to text and then right here I want a grab from our content for what’s going to go in the footers and grab footer right here.
And you can use this as it applies to your blog or business. So this is just the hours and you’ll see what this looks like. It’s like paste that right in there.
And save and publish. Close this out. Footer two add widget text I’m going to grab this location section.
Paste it right in.
Click automatically add paragraphs. So create spaces. OK. And that’s it. And then just save and publish. And now we have two footer areas so close this out.
And you see right here. There’s the hours and then the location. Kind of cool right.
And the paragraphs didn’t add here I got to do that real quick so these are all on different lines these hours so I head back to where was widgets and footer 1. And then click on that and then select automatically add paragraphs. And see it brought it all down. OK looks a lot better. OK.
And then save and publish head back up here and then close this out.
Click on customize and then head down here to static front page and then right here it is showing your latest posts. OK. We want to change this to a static page and then the front page we want to put as our welcome page and our post page is our blog the blog page we created. OK. And then just save and publish and then if we click home check this out.
Pretty awesome right.
And this is all coming together. So it’s looking really really good to close this out.
And then take a peek.
So right now here’s our welcome page and then add three more sections below this page right here which are going to see here in a minute.
So I want her back to the dashboard ok awesome this is the homestretch you’re gonna love this you going to see how your new blog is going to all come together.
So before I show you that I want to make one quick change here so I’ll go to pages and all pages I just want to change an image real quick. So I’ll head down to the About Us page and click Edit and I just want to change this featured image and to remove this and set featured image and upload files select files and then I want this one right here. I love this image ok cool. And then set featured image and then update the page. OK and then head back to visit site and then click on customize and then click on theme options. And these are two different sections. Now you can pick and choose what you want for your blog to look like. OK. So I’m going to just go ahead and add in the sections are the pages we’ve created so for the first section on want make put blog first then for the second section I’m going to put the about us section just to switch it up a little bit. And for the third contact us.
OK. Now look you can see how this is all coming together. Right here is our welcome section. Then of course the blog. And then we’ll go right to the blog. Then the about us. Then the contact us. OK and then of course our footer down here. Now again you can use Pick whatever you want for yours. All right. I’m just giving you a framework or structure to work with here. And then go ahead and save and publish. That’s it close out of that.
And congrats this is your new blog looks amazing.
That you’re going to love this head back up to the dashboard.
Now this is a little bonus that I’m gonna show you how to do right now. Remember earlier we talked about list builder and how to add a thank you page so you can deliver your lead magnet and present a low cost offer which is really awesome and this is what we’re doing we’re trying to convert subscribers into actual paying customers using your blog as a vehicle to do that. So in order to do that I’m going to show you a really awesome way to do that right now. So we’re going to create a new page, so head over to pages and then click on Add new and I love this. It’s so so awesome how you can present your lead magnet and give more value with an additional low cost product to turn that subscriber into a new customer. Now this is awesome because on your think Page you’re giving a strong piece of value upfront for free that your new subscriber can download immediately along with a thank you message. Then right underneath that you present your trip wire or low ticket offer to your new subscriber. Now what I love about this is that you tap into the law of reciprocity which simply means that when someone gives you something you feel an obligation to give back. But you’ve got to make sure that free giveaway is awesome and highly valuable along with the tripwire offer. And check this out you’re going to love this. I want to show you how to set this all up properly so it’s dialed in your thank you page. Thank you. Message.
And of course your trip wire offer now if you don’t have one of those. Don’t worry we have you covered. We teach you how to make those over our Web site you can check that out. When you’re ready for that. The important thing is for now. Stay focused. Stay dialed in to getting this blog off the ground live online. You have something to be proud of and something to present to the world. So it’s important to set the foundation. You can always add upon that.
So go ahead and title this page. Thank you. And this page is going to be really simple just in terms of the lead magnet in the products so the messaging is going to be very tight. OK. So can head over to the content folder and grab the content for this page. Here it is right here. copy, And then had to text and paste it right in and then click on visual.
Edit this some. Bold this is no way to bring this to centre. And that looks good. I want to make this. Heading one. And then right here. Go ahead bold this in bold.
This is where I want to bring it up and then bold this as well.
And now I’m going to head over to the content folder and upload the actual lead magnet. So actually I can just do it from right here. Someone had to add media click this then upload files select files and then I’m looking for where is it.
Here it is right here. So this is the actual lead magnet. OK. And this is actually what our actual lead magnet image looks like which is kind of cool.
All right. Now this can be a real simple PDF report it doesn’t need to be fancy like this and you can get cool images done are made on five or we actually teach how to make these as well. I think in this guide we teach it.
But anyway so I’m going to go ahead and select this and choose it.
Now you’ll see what I want to do with this here in a minute. OK so now it’s uploaded to the server. OK. So it’s on this Web site. So all I want to do now is now it’s right here. Here’s a lead magnet. Now if you click on it we can just copy this link right here. Copy the link. Ok then we don’t want to insert this into a post. OK we just want to copy this link. And all I’m going to do is. Link this.
Cheat sheet right here. So, Download your free guide here.
And then I’m just going to go ahead and click this link. And then paste this right in here.
And that’s it. So now if anyone clicks this it’s going to download that cheat sheet.
Pretty awesome right. So it’s real simple. OK, Now that’s set up and now I want to add an image right here of the actual product for the 10x tool box. So now they can download the cheat sheet. Which they subscribed or opted in for. And now we’re going to present the offer for the 10x tool box. And before we do that I want to break up this content a little bit. So these two sections are sectioned off. OK. So all I want to do is add in a little. You’re going to see a little horizontal line to break this up and make it look real clean. OK looks good some are good and click up here to bring the cursor right where I want the image.
And then you see right here is good.
And then click on Add media upload files select files.
And here it is right here little image for our 10x toolbox kind of a fun image. And I have to edit the size of this little bit. So a huge image but it’s always good to start with a bigger image and then edit down to keep the integrity of the image pretty dialed in.
OK. So I want to make this a little bit smaller to 300 by 235 and then insert this into Page actually a alignment I want this to the right and then insert into page.
Okay perfect. Now that looks pretty good. So I’m going to go ahead and publish this page to say all the changes and then go ahead and view page. Now check this out. The lead Magnet click this. Boom. There it is. Now you’ve just delivered a lead magnet.
Now what’s really awesome is I’m not sure you know how to set up a little payment button so you can take payments right off your blog. It’s so easy to do this.
So head back to edit page then right here.
I’m just going to add in grab it now, then I’ll bold all this perfect, now we’re going to add a payment button.
Ok really easy to do so I’ll go ahead and update this page and then head over to plug ins and add New. And we’re looking for stripe payments. If you’ve never heard of stripe. It’s super easy way to start taking payments online and must show you how to get set up with them. It’s real simple and we’re going to get this plug in installed right now. So just type in stripe payments. And this is it right here and then go ahead and click on install now. Now this is the easiest one I’ve found to use in terms of functionality. So go ahead and activate this OK cool that’s set up and then to set up really this plug in I’ll show you real quick. All we’ll do is head down to either you can go right here to settings or we’re about to fill this stuff in. And you can also just access the settings by going into accept stripe payments. Click this right here. OK so I want to head over to stripe right now and get set up with an account. So just type in s t r i p e dot com. Go ahead and click on create account. Should be good and then create your stripe account. Now this is super easy to set up. Go ahead and click go straight to your dashboard.
So everything is active now. OK and this is basically ready for you to take payments. So now we won’t need to do is go to right here which says API and these are the keys that we’re going to need for our plug in to communicate with stripe so we can take payments using that plug in. OK. That makes sense. I’ll show you this all makes sense here in a minute. OK. Before we do this actually we need to activate the account. So if you click this it’s going to say you need to verify the e-mail address. Now be sure to verify this. Otherwise you won’t be able to take payments. Here’s the verification e-mail. So all you’re going to do is click this link and it’s important that you familiarize yourself with this payment gateway Stripe. So there’s some important information in here to get set up properly. This isn’t a you know tutorial about stripe. So make sure you educate yourself on how to properly use this tool. OK. So I’m to go ahead and click this and then I get log in here ok awesome. So that’s it. So if you click on activate your account then all you’ll do is fill out these details right here real straightforward. So your business name. Your details right your credit card information and of course your bank details so you can get the payments. OK then you would do click activate account. OK. So from there once you have this all set up and squared away you’re going to just go back to your API.
And get these keys. OK. So I’m going to just copy this key right here the first one. And I’m going to head back to the plug in dashboard for Stripe and then just paste this stripe publisher key actually it was a secret when I had to make sure you have the right ones. OK. OK that looks good. And then we’ll head back. And here’s the publisher one of them a copy of this. And that’s it. So now this plugin can communicate with the Stripe payment gateway. OK and then all this looks good. You don’t need to change anything in here. Now you don’t want to ignore this. OK so basically whenever someone makes a payment this is where they’ll be redirected after the payment goes through to deliver their product. OK so they’re download whatever that looks like and I’ll show you here in a second. We’re just going to add a little short code to a page to be able to go to that page that we had just set up to take payments or have a buy now button show up and it’s super super easy. OK. So I’m to go ahead and save changes. OK. All good and I give you access to the developer who created this plugin his site, he actually has a step by step tutorial to dive a little bit deeper in terms of exactly how to use this plugin properly. So there’s more stuff that more functionality you can do with it. So I’m going to get you set up with the basic functionality for now.
So now that that saved you want to head back to your page where you had set up your product so I’m going to head back there now and then right under here I’m going to just paste in the short code.
Ok so I’m head over to and I’ll give you access to the link right here. So it’s this url, tips and tricks Dash HQ dot com and the rest of this. OK. Then on this page you’ll head down to. And this really has a step by step walkthrough of this entire plug in. It’s real simple and I’m just going to copy this is the standard short code and you just want to use this just for the standard functionality and this will utilize the short code. The basics of this plug in. OK. So just copy this and then I’m going to paste it right in here. OK that looks good. Now you can edit this shortcut a little bit so you can name it whatever you want to name it. So I just named this 10x tool box. In the price you want to make sure that’s right and then right here is the access to the download. So what they’re going to receive. OK so you need to make sure. Right now what that looks like. So I’m going to go ahead and update this. So basically there’s the link right here is the actual downloadable product or access to that. So I’m to go ahead and upload the product right now.
So click on Add media upload files select files and then it’s going to be on desktop and 10x tool box updated. Here we go.
So this is access to the products of this link right here. Like we’ve done before. I was going to copy this link.
And then don’t insert into page and then right here.
Now I’m going to replace. The example they provided with my actual downloadable product. OK. So when someone clicks this buy now button and then they actually follow through with the purchase they’ll be redirected to this product which is actually this downloadable link. OK.
And paste it right in perfect and then update. Then view page and it’s that simple.
So they go through the payment details once they purchase they’ll get a e-mail saying hey thanks here’s access to your download and we’ll redirect them to a page to access the 10x tool box. That’s it. Very very simple. So now you can see so list builder will pop up and it’ll say create a profitable blog in seven days with our three step WTC system. Get access now. So they’ll put in their e-mail address and then from there after that they’ll be redirected to this page so they can access their free guide here and then they get to see this which is really cool. They’re like oh man this is so cool. What is this 10x toolbox really awesome it’s only 7 bucks. How easy is it. Awesome. You see. So really really simple. I hope that makes sense. So now you’re profitable and that’s what we’re trying to do here. We’re trying to turn visitors into subscribers and ultimately through value we’re always giving value. We can turn our subscribers into paying customers.
OK so we have one step left to finish to complete this process and that is to link this thank you page with the success redirect URL for list builder. So we’ll go ahead and copy this link up here and then go ahead and click on the crown icon then head to list builder. Then click on your cheat sheet.
And then click on success and all we need to do is go ahead and paste this in right here and then save and exit. Now remember what this is going to do is that when someone puts in their email address it’s going to send them to this thank you page. So you got to make sure you put this in. Otherwise they’re not going to get their lead magnet or see your tripwire offer and that’s it. So that’s now saved.
So I’ll just make sure that that’s OK perfect. And now you’re done here.
OK I can’t believe it. We’re just about done. We have a couple more things that we need to do.
Activate a couple of plug ins and of course remove the welcome page of the blog. So head back to the dashboard.
OK then had to plug ins and then install plug ins. And they’re going to head down to, Go ahead click on WP supercache settings and then go ahead and turn caching on. OK. And an update status.
Remember this plug in is going to help speed up your entire blog. So it’s important to make sure that caching is on. OK. Then enter here to the crown icon. Click that then click on welcome matt and then go click on actually campaign one. The one we’ve set up and then unpause this. And now it’s active. OK so once you have that sorted. Close this out, and now the welcome matt will display. You’ll see that here in a minute and then head back to Dashboard. And then right here as your site is currently displaying the welcome page or The Coming soon page. So once you are ready to launch here click here.
Awesome right. Just beautiful. There is the welcome mat. Click Here. Take you right down to the blog. Here’s the video header. It’s beautiful. The welcome page.
About Us page. Contact Us page for social icons.
